Quite a macabre experience to be in the crypt of a church. Access is a bit tricky as there is only stone steps to get down to crypt level. Once there you are greeted by the sight of coffins stacked on top of one another and of course the bodies that can been seen out of a few broken coffins.
The bodies have been well preserved by the environment in the crypt and you are even allowed to touch one.
I never considered myself to be superstitious but I was reluctant to 'shake hands with the crusader' (actually you just rub one of his fingers for luck) but I am glad I did it.
Photos are not permitted in the crypt but I see some people on the web have already broken that taboo.
