There are three exciting exhibitions; Viking Dublin and Medieval Dublin recreate the city through life size reconstructions, including a Viking house and a medieval fair while Death and Disease are also investigated. Finally unearth the city’s past at the new interactive History Hunters exhibition, visit an excavation site, and see medieval bugs under the microscope in the Lab. See Dublin from a new perspective and come away knowing more about its citizens throughout the ages! « less

“More geared toward kids”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

Though this museum was terrific fun, it was definitely geared more toward kids. There were many interactive explanations, including putting on helmets and the like (which was pretty good fun for the wife and I). Much of the museum had replicas or eerily realistic dummies. I would recommend highly for families, less so for adults only.

“Excellent museum and great for kids!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

Visiting Dublin can be a bit of a challenge with kids, given that most of the attractions involve a lot of walking and standing, and some of the history involved in the various tours is both grim and complicated. The Viking museum is a highlight though, and it really helps to bring an exciting part of Irish history alive! The exhibits are intricate and extremely well researched, and the tour guides are informative as well as entertaining. Allow plenty of time for a guided tour and walk through where you (and kids if you have them!) can really enjoy the surroundings that make you feel like you are experiencing medieval Dublin.

“well worth a visit allow plenty of time!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013 via mobile

dublinia was a real suprise it was very informative fun and had some added interaction for the kids
however having purchased tickets we were then told that the place closed at half four and we would have plenty of time in 45 mins THIS IS NOT THE CASE
we would have easily spent a couple of hours there instead of feeling like we had to rush ( they were waiting for us to leave to lock up) and amazingly allowed people in after us.
good value if you could have spent more time there instead of allowing people in and then rushing the visit !!!
it does take more than 45 mins

Glad to hear you enjoyed Dublinia. Since seeing your review we have discussed our recommended time to visit Dublinia and are now advising customers that it does take longer than 45 mins, and allowing for this at the end of the day.
We have some visitors who have spent up to 3 hours, which is possible as there is lots to see!
Many thanks for your review.

“Do It!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

What a fun museum! Covers the Viking and Medieval periods of Dublin, lots of models of period characters, not your typical stuffy museum. Even includes an exhibit of a medieval outhouse/loo complete with sound effects. Truly is a walk through time to inlcude an exhibit about archeology digs with a job shack etc. Soem hands on, interactive elements. We were pleased to come across this museum at Christ's Church. It was one of the few attractions open on New Year's Day, our last day in Dublin. Very education, informative, and fun. The kids will enjoy it too!
