“Fascinating”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

Fascinating collection of religious texts and artwork, including some of the earliest fragments of the Bible. Accessible and not at all stuffy. Rarely crowded and a little off the usual tourist trails

“excellent underused resource”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

There's lots to see here in this small museum. For us the highlights are the old Bible manuscripts that help verify that the text we have today is authentic. There are also more than 260 complete and fragmentary Qur’ans (Korans), some dating from the late eighth and ninth centuries. Also a large collection of jade items. We bring friends here sometimes. It is free, but we encourage friends to consider giving a contribution in appreciation. There's also a small shop and café. And a roof garden. And here's a tip: if you have some more time on your hands, try out the free Revenue Museum, also in Dublin Castle, for a fascinating history of smuggling. (I must admit I didn't go there yet but my wife did).

Great place to spend an hour or two. If you like religious history at all, you'll find this place fascinating. And best of all... it is free!

“May not find in the tourist books, but worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

There are so many cool things at this museum - old books, Chinese art, papparus -- some of it religious and others not. Don't rule this out for the other better known attractions in Dublin. It's worth the visit - plus it's free!
