“Bathroom perfection perhaps”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

The Hampton was our final stop in a month long trip through Europe and Singapore jumping from hotel to hotel, with intermittent couch surfing.

We were fortunate to stop at some amazing hotels, and this was perhaps my favourite.

Ok its a bit further out than many of the options, but walking the streets of Dublin (even in the rain) is a pleasure...and if you wanted to hop on a bus, its right outside.

We had 2 nights in Dublin, and we were very happy to spend our final night of our tour locked in our hotel room in front of the enormous TV and equally sizeable fire, feasting on provisions procured from a very fine deli just a 2 minute stroll down the road. The real sealer was the bathroom. It was cavernous. It echoed as you walked passed it, and was the very pinnacle of luxurious design.

I love my bathrooms. Big baths. Big showers. Lots of bench space. Separated toilet. Mood lighting. Speakers. It had the lot.

We were well aware that its also a bit of a party hotel, and our room was directly above party central...but the Dublin weather did us proud and there were very few revellers braving the cold and the wet. So noise wasn't the issue that some experience stopping at the back end of weeks

One tip, if you are interested Mr Hotel Operator: kill the mood lighting in the breakfast room. It would be nice to see what we are eating. Dark and moody doesn't work for the first meal of the day...it just makes me want to go back to that lovely oversize (well of course) bed.

Pros: Nice bed, fireplace, huge bathroom, double sink, nice and modern bathtub. All these are better than in the website pics. All the decorations are stylish. Club bass can be heard in the rooms at night. A bit far (25 min walk) from the centre. But bus stop in front and receptionist was very helpful and gave us exact change for bus ride. Would stay again next time we are in Dublin.

GREAT: parking, service, reception, room, atmosphere and restaurant / bar.
Why on earth put a fantastic hotel like this on top of a night club that blasts music until 2am though? (on a Sunday) The nightclub must make more money than the hotel....?
YES I will stay here again but I too will be enjoying the nightclub next time!

Room Tip: Top floor opposite the main street to avoid night club music

Stayed 17-20 October 2012. Lovely lovely place - spotlessly clean everywhere, food superb very edible.Staff always friendly and helpful.
The decor and ambience was absolutely spot on.
This hotel is on the airport bus route which is ideal- if you walk just outside the airport and see the blue buses pay at the booth and you will be dropped off outside the door for 14euros per person.-far cheaper than taxis
The only one niggle was the nightclub on Friday night. We came back to the hotel around 12.30pm from a lovely evening in Dublin centre and the disco went on until 3.00am quite loud.
However it might not be noisy in every room. We were on the 4th floor.
All in all, we would definitely go back to the Hampton and hope the disco has been made more soundproof.

Arrived in Dublin early Tuesday morning and our room was available. First room we were assigned was on the 4th floor down a dark hallway. It had 2 windows that were both blocked by the architecture of the building. Front desk gladly moved us to the other side of hotel 2nd floor, with 3 large windows that overlooked the front of the hotel - much nicer! We had 2 closets, 1 with a large safe but no drawers to really unpack. When we asked how the heated floors worked in the bathroom and how to turn on the fireplace the response was I'm new and really don't know. Another missing item was a clock in the room.

The Hotel is all steps. I would not recommend it to anyone with any type of injury. I'm not injured but found the bathtub to be a bit of a challenge - it is a big step up!

The bar area was a cool spot. We really enjoyed the friendliness of the staff but there always seemed to be new clients stopping in which made for an interesting visit every time.

The Vanilla nightclub was only open one night we were there and the noise was minimal in our room which was directly above it. You must go inside if you're staying there; it is free and definitely worth a look - very VANILLA.

Room Tip: rooms on second floor make it very convenient to go up and down stairs and talk to front desk

My fiance and I stayed at the Hampton Hotel from the 14th of September until the 17th- we chose this hotel because the location was close to the aviva stadium ( as we were travelling over to Dublin to see Lady Gaga on the 15th ) and because it is close to Dublin town centre. We were not disappointed with our choice - what a fabulous hotel, which is situated in the gorgeous Donnybrook. The room was delightful, the decor was ideal to my taste ( quite frankly I could've lived in that room forever!). We had a remote control in the room which controlled the TV,DVD player and the fireplace. The TV was massive and the fireplace was fabulous too. We stayed on the 4th floor and our view was so lovely, we looked out on the tree lined streets of Donnybrook. The bathroom was great too, bath was massive and the shower was combined with the bath . The only minor problem we had was at the very start of our stay when we were checking in , we wanted to pay in cash up front and then pay as we go with any additional purchases (drinks, room service etc). We handed over 350 euros ( our 3 night stay was 339 euros ) and we were given our 11 euros change and headed up to our room to unpack. It was only later on that afternoon we were returning from a nice walk and shopping that the man who checked us in earlier came running over to us at the lift to stop us and ask if we had paid with cash and how much we had paid- to which I explained I gave you 350 euros all in 50 euro notes and at that he seemed confused and just walked away ( he had earlier explained it was his third day working there ). I was absolutely mortified as there was other people at reception as well as staff who probably heard- honestly it really made me feel really small, I'm only 22 and it was a lot of money for me to hand over and then to be questioned about it. It was only when we got up to the room and I fetched the receipt and saw that he had put in that I paid 339 euros, and gave me no change. Even although I only gave them 50 euro notes. Strange - but it was the only downside I could mention. I adore the Hampton Hotel and will be returning.
