“Nice hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2013

Had a great stay at this hotel, our room was huge with sofa, biggest one on our floor the rest of the rooms do look small going by the map on door, staff were friendly, good location, a little tricky to find if you dont no where your going lol. I would stay here again.

My boyfriend booked this hotel for valentine weekend with late checkout and breakfast in bed. Room is clean but very small, extractor fan in bathroom would not turn off even when the light wasn't on. Very noisey the nxt morning coming from the street outside. We ordered breakfast for the next morning the evening before but we decided we would go down for breakfast instead, we were told that the chef went home sick and we could not get a fry only continental breakfast - cereal, fruit, ham, cheese etc...very disappointing as we were hungry and looking forward to a good breakfast to set us up for the day shopping, oh forgot to mention the bed...the most uncomfortable bed...rock hard mattress....we didn't avail of the late checkout as we wanted to go and get a hot breakfast and go home......after paying so much money for this hotel I would not be returning....a waste of hard earned money!!!!!

Thank you for your comments. We welcome all reviews both positive and negative as it helps us to increase our standards and rectify any issues that guests may have experienced.

Please accept my apologies for the situation during breakfast service. Unfortunately, or chef became sick all of a sudden and had to leave immediately, leaving is with only a continental style breakfast. It was an unfortunate event and one that I would like to compensate you for should you wish to stay with us again.

The fans in the bathroom are designed to stay on for a few minutes after the lights have been turned off in order to eliminate any odours or steam from the shower. We do pride ourselves being close to all the major attractions yet far enough to have a good nights sleep. There may be some outside noise from time to time which we try to keep to a minimum. If there are major disturbances outside the hotel, we call the local authorities who quickly resolve the problem. I am sorry that you experienced the outside noise, if you are staying with us again, please request a room on the inside so that you will not be disturbed.

Once again, I apologise for the issues that you encountered during your stay with us. We would very much like to welcome you back again in the future and guarantee a wonderful experience with us.

My expectations were high: nice name and TripAdvisor award from 2012. Perhaps the really reasonable price should have lowered my expectations... The basics are quite ok: room is large and clean, the Internet very good and people friendly. Breakfast is slow and basic (waited >20min for scrambled eggs). The hotel design is nothing short of horrible. My room was bleak to say the least. No wonder the hotel bar was deserted at all times. So, if you want to be near the old part of town and Wear dark glasses all the time the hotel is just fine!

Thank you for your comments. It is unfortunate to read that you were not satisfied with the George Frederic Handel Hotel during your stay with us. We have now completed the painting and wall papering of all the rooms, new carpets have been laid and we are in the process of installing mini bars and in room safes.

I am sorry for the delay in receiving your scrambled eggs. I am looking into this matter and have discussed this with my chef and wait staff. It may be that a number of orders came in at the one time which will mean a slight delay in the food arriving as all of our breakfast dishes are "cooked to order".

Regarding the hotel design, I would like to you to contact me directly as I am very concerned about how you describe it as "horrible". Your comments would be extremely helpful in this case.

I look forward to hopefully hearing from you again.

Stayed for 4 nights. Excellent quiet, location on the edge of Temple Bar but not in the middle of all the noise and crowds. I only had 2 reservations about the hotel. Firstly the WiFi did not work in my room on the 2nd floor, but it was good on the first floor. Secondly, 2 reception staff gave me the wrong information about my return journey from the hotel to Dublin Port.

Thank you for your comments and we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay in Dublin. My apologies for the problems you encountered with the WiFi, and thank you for bringing this to our attention as we can now investigate this issue. Regarding the incorrect Port information, again I am sorry for this and have brought it to the attention of my front desk staff. Thank you for your kind comments. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us and the "little extras" As you noticed during your time here, we are well under way with the re-furbishment of the rooms. Over the next few weeks, this will continue with the introduction of mini bars, in room safes and inter-active TV.

I shall pass on the comments to the staff and look forward to hopefully welcoming you all back one day.

I used the hotel on a number of ocasions in Dec 2012 and Jan 2013.
Overall a very good hotel. Great location, very quite, rooms are good, overall very good value. Breakfast is freshly cooked to order and is half the price of the Burlington.

only negatives are no car park however there is an overnight deal with Jurys Christchurch and the bed linen is rough textured.

Overall I would highly recommend.

Thank you for your comments. It is always a pleasure welcoming you back to the George Frederic Handel Hotel and it is nice to see that you are happy with product and service. Unfortunately we do not have any on-sight parking, but we do have a great deal with the Christ Church Car Park at 14.40 euro for 24 hours. The car park is located just around the corner, 2 minutes walking distance from the hotel.

We look forward to welcoming you back.

Great location (a lot of places are close to the hotel by foot), very good hotel (rooms are modern), very nice staff. It is one of the quietest hotel in temple bar (it does not transform at night to a noisy pub - disco).
