Service was great, nice friendly staff and Sarah and Alex were brilliant. It is in an excellent location for pubs, clubs and food. Its a bit dirty at the moment but it is to be expected as going thru a full refurbishment and will be completed shortly. The free wi-fi, use of they're computers and the friendly staff are well worth the money anyway.

Very good hostel! The receptionnists are very nice and helpful, the rooms and the bathrooms are clean and the beds very comfortable. It's ideally located (5 minutes from the Luas, the center, temple bar...), and even though it can be a little noisy until 1AM, you're still able to sleep very well. The ambiance is very nice and friendly, the decoration is GREAT. I'll definitely tell anyone who wants to go to Dublin to stay here.

When I read some other reviews saying "Don't expect to sleep there", my thoughts were to stay anyway and take my own picture of this hostel.
But from the beginning: The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The building and the rooms made a good impression - it looked clean and comfortable. The rooms are furthermore really big. Even the bathrooms looked more or less clean (the flushing doesn't work properly!!), but I've definitely seen worse.
What I found very good about this hostel was the entertaining programm. If I understood it correctly there is always a live band in the evenings (or at least on weekends). If you are travelling alone this is a really good thing to spend some time.
But the biggest problem was the night's sleep. I'm afraid to say that you really can't expect to sleep there. The floor in front of the room's door as well as the floor in the room itself made a very loud creaking noise. So you can hear everyone walking in front or above your rooms - all night! I know it's a very old building, but also the walls are not very thick. I could here someone talking on his mobile in the room next to me as if that someone was standing right next to me! What made things even worse, was the pub on the other side on the street with its loud music. I'm very sorry, but although the general things like cleanliness and friendliness are all very great - don't expect to sleep there on weekends!

We stayed in Litton lane for three nights and had a highly uncomfortable spring mattress. On top of that, during the day, music would be played in the corridors and due to the thin walls, this was very annoying when we wanted to have a sleep-in or a nap. Besides that, the staff were nice and helpful and it is located in the centre of town wich is a bonus.

Room Tip: The double room we slept in was definitly not worth it.

Litton Lane has a lot of things going for it. It's excellent location in the heart of Dublin makes access to public transports services easy as it's very close to the LUAS light rail system which links it to the two main train stations. (Heuston Station, serving the south, west and north west and Connolly Station serving the North South Dart Commuter Service and the Belfast Line) It;'s also two minutes walk from O'Connell street and the Quays where most of the bus routes run from.

As regards the hostel itself, the common room is comfy enough with TV and internet access available with a large kitted out kitchen for those who wish to cook.

Where this hostel ffalls down however is in the simple things. The showering and toilet facilities on the top floor were not very clean. Personally i'm not overly fussy about these sort of things and a stray hair here and there isn't going to "ruin" the stay for me. But substainal comestic improvements need to be carried out (broken tiles, grime covered flooring, extractor fan needed for showers, broken/impossible to close lock) I've stayed at the hostel a number of times, twice on the top floor and each time the top floor was roasting hot with doors and windows needing to be left open to avoid expiration! :P

A little work on the bathroom facilites and a thermostat would go a long way.

I was visiting friends in Dublin who, for a variety of reasons, couldn't put me up themselves, so I booked into Litton Lane hostel for a Saturday night. I'm a bit past my hostel-prime (great when I was studying abroad at the age of 20, not so appealing when I'm trying to plan fun and affordable holidays at 26) I chose to stay in an all-female dorm, and this is one of the reasons I booked them - not all hostels offer this choice, and it was very reassuring that Litton Lane did. The bed was neat, clean, and relatively comfortable, and the room itself was clean too. The staff was friendly, there is a light continental breakfast offered for free in the morning, and the facilities are clean. Security was also good - there is 24 hour reception which checks your room slip when you come in, and all rooms use keycards for access. The few downsides would be that there was a definite smell throughout the hallways (though not in the rooms), and the room itself got really hot at night. All in all, a really good stay and I will definitely consider staying here again!
