5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

Great hotel, always friendly, even when fire alarm went off in the middle of night. Staff are more than friendly, underground car park is very handy as the Tram is only a few steps away. Breakfast buffet is super value and always fresh. Bar a spacious, modern and very comfortable, always a great atmosphere.

I have stayed at the Hilton Charlemont many times in the past but my most recent stay prompted me to write a review. I always find the overall experience excellent and the staff in particular are a credit to the hotel. On this occasion the hotel had a fire evacuation in the early hours of the morning. (Saturday 20th July) Staff managed the evacuation with the utmost of professionalism and minimal disruption. Tea & coffee were offered in the hotel lobby when the all clear was given to allow guests back into the hotel. There was also a letter posted under my door the next morning from the Duty Manager thanking all guests for their cooperation. Thankfully there was no fire at the hotel and although nobody appreciated being woken from their sleep I take comfort in knowing that safety is paramount at Hilton and their procedures were followed.

This hotel is a great place to stay near the city center. You need to take the Dublin Rapid Transit ( called Luas) to St Stephen Green and there is a stop right outside the hotel. The breakfast is hearty- ask for an omelette!

Can't believe we stayed the same time as previous reviewer….false fire alarm at 2 AM. Some drunk idiot smashed alarm in car park!!! Evacuation and staff was orderly and courteous. Staff were very attentive and helpful during check in and stay. Room was typical Hilton and very clean with all the amenities. Food in restaurant was very good and bar was a lively meeting place. Good location with available taxis and/or above ground subway. Very good value for price. Should not charge for internet!!!

Room Tip: Would ask for room at back and inside of hotel because of people "noise" in front of hotel...

Check in was pleasant - Steven checked us in and without a shadow of a doubt was attentive, quick and had banter with us.
Room was lovely, 302 , ac thank god. Room was clean and well presented.

Fire alarm went off twice and we were evacuated. This obviously was some idiot and not down to the hotel but there were some v disgruntled guests, me being one at 8 months pregnant.
the housekeeper knocked our door at 9.30 ---- this was unacceptable and reception should have given a list of rooms that were checked out.
We decided to go for breakfast seeing as we wer now awake, we knew it wasn't included in our room, I had left my card behind the desk for an extras at check in.
The food and beverage manager rang reception to clarify that breakfast wasn't included ,and then asked if it was ok to charge to the room... Clearly
I was standing in the queue for breakfast and I wanted something to eat. Why he made such a big deal in front of a queue of people is beyond me... I was mortified.
I spoke to the receptionist on check out and she was apologetic and removed the charge for breakfast.

Overall well presented hotel, modern and clean but certain staff members need to be retrained

Excellent in every way - service, accommodation, meals, bar, parking, friendly staff. Irish receptionist was most helpful and friendly, as were bar staff and dining room staff. Disabled parking in basement with wheelchair access beside door to hotel and lift to lobby. Bedroom was very comfortable and quiet. Hotel is very well ventilated. Situation beside the Grand Canal and Luas (tram) station . Great location and great value for money.

As a Hilton Diamond memeber, I expected to be treated royally during my first stay at the Hilton Dublin. The location is excellent next to the tram line and a quick 5 minute trip into the center city. At check-in the agent was totally surly. One night the a/c stopped working, causing the room to be about 85F. Needless to say, I got no sleep. The manager on duty did nothing except apologize, saying "I don't have the authority." Hotel is totally understaffed. No bellstaff nor concierge. Front desk constantly packed and no one answering the phone. Tour bus parked out front for two nights. Worst of all, two managers told me GM would call me after my trip but never heard. When I tried to call to get his e-mail, they refused to give it to me. If you are a regular business traveler, avoid this hotel. If your a tourist with a group, it may be for you.
