Hotel is well located close to the city centre overlooking the canal and next to a Luas tram stop. The property is clean and modern, with a spacious lounge bar (Stil) on the left, spacious lobby/reception overlooking a courtyard and a restaurant on the right hand side. Check in was busy but polite and efficient. Room was ok, a bit on the small side (overlooking canal). No exec club but nice touches as a Diamond HHonors client of wine, water, fruit and snacks. Odd that they welcomed me back in a letter and on arrival when I'd never stayed there before. Bed was uncomfortable. Pillows unpleasant and micro thin duvet. Resulted in a very bad night sleep. Bathroom had certain metal parts of fittings missing - part of toilet roll holder, top cap on shower column and another piece - maybe a previous guest had taken them. Shower good with consistent temperature.

Breakfast - the high point - a juicer for fresh carrot juice - EXCELLENT. Granola/museli station. delicious porridge. Some great local foods - soda bread, really fresh tasty eggs, good irish bacon and artisan sausages. A fantastic breakfast buffet.

The lounge and reception/lobby has lots of seating for meetings etc. spent some time in Stil and had lunch. VERY POOR FOOD - BLT - bacon tasted like it had been cooked in a pan that had previously had something burnt in it. Half the sandwich was left. My poached salmon salad - a small piece of salmon with the skin on (why not remove it - fine if pan fried but poached - yuk it should be removed before serving) atop a large handful of spinach leaves with a rather acidic tomato chutney between the two and a splash of balsamic syrup. No cucumber, other leaves, tomatoes, grated carrot, onions, nuts, avocado etc. or dressing. It was bland and very dull. The other guests had wraps both said they were dull, bland and boring.

Service - on the whole good. Nice friendly staff who smiled and made us feel welcome. Service in Stil a little patchy in the morning. They'd make a lot more money if they had more staff as we had to wait a while several times to catch someone's eye.

Evening - had drinks in Stil. No snacks provided with the drinks. Ordered fish and chips (meh - not impressed. Limp batter and a few chunky chips that could have done with being crisped up with and extra time in hot oil. Ordered some thin fries to share. Again - what is so difficult about frying chips? Clean hot oil is all that's needed. These were just warm, anaemic and flabby. Asked for ketchup and mayo which arrived after we'd eaten them.

Two examples of service -

I had found a vegetarian restaurant on line but then could not recall the name. Called front desk/concierge to ask and was told -"lots of places do a vegetarian option". I explained that I wanted a vegetarian restaurant. The lady said she would call me back. 20 mins later I called down and was told to hold because she was busy! As a result I did get to the restaurant (Cornucopia) but only just and very close to closing time.

Second example - had something I needed printing. Told to send it by email to a member of staff. Was printed as requested and available a few minutes later free if charge.

Two other peeves - key operated lifts - so annoying if you have luggage and bags to fiddle about and unnecessary in my opinion.

Internet - wifi provided by BT but you have to keep looking in, it doesn't remember you once you've logged in.

Would I stay again? Probably for the location and breakfast but certainly not for the food served in Stil.

I recently stayed to this hotel for 3 nights, during a business trip. The location is very good, but you need to walk around for a while to realize it, as the area is not full of pubs/bars/shops. It is within walking distance of the business district, shopping area, St Stephen's Green park, etc. Walking is better than taxi in Dublin, where you can get stuck in traffic in small one-way streets, making a 2-mile trip take more than 20 minutes...

Hotel itself is modern, with large rooms equipped with all the necessary, and then some. I appreciated the working area, large King bed and the large bathroom, others might appreciate other features. The only thing I always needed to take care of was the temperature, as it tends to get very cold, and the max temperature setting is only 26 degrees.

Breakfast is very good, with a wide spread of cold and hot dishes. I especially appreciated the fresh-baked bread rolls and the fruit selection.

Overall a great stay. No thrills, but just a very good place to turn to during any trip to Dublin.

Stayed here for 1 night when in Dublin to watch an international rugby game at Lansdowne Road stadium. The location is great for both the stadium and city centre, both being a 15 minute walk away. There is also a train station of some sorts close to the hotel, although I never used this service. The hotel was a 30minute, €30 cab ride from the airport, really easy.

The hotel itself is everything you would expect from a Hilton, modern, friendly staff, a really good spread for breakfast (which was a measly €5 extra per person).

All in all we had a great stay, with spacious rooms and everything we wanted at our fingertips.

Would happily stay here again

I recently stayed here for 1 night. The hotel is in a great location, within walking distance of the town, although you can easily take a taxi too. The staff were very friendly and helpful when arranging taxis for our large group. I was allocated a lovely room overlooking the courtyard. However, I could not get to sleep as there was an event taking place below my room and all I could hear was the constant thudding of music. I didn't have breakfast as it wasn't included in my rate, but others in the party said it was good. Would definitely stay there again.

We have just returned from a one night stay in this hotel. I am a hilton regular, so a trip so see a show at the Grand Canal Theatre was enough to justify the stay. The staff were all very welcoming, and we enjoyed an upgrade - so we had adjoining rooms, a king size and a twin. Room very good, clean and fully equipped with everything you need, including mini bar and incredibly sky sports on the telly! Had a meal in the bar, which was grand - although I thought the menu was rather limited, and it was pricey, but justifiable. Breakfast was excellent as it tends to be in most Hiltons. The hotel was fully booked, but the staff were able to cope.

We are already planning our next theatre trip to Dublin, and this hotel is likely to be where we shall stay.

Thanks

The Hilton is in a reasonable location within walking distance to most tourist locations. We arrived at the Hilton after the flight from the U.S. at around 6:30AM. Perhaps it was due to the time of day, but check-in was relatively poorly handled. No mention of Diamond status and no mention of complimentary breakfast. However, we were very pleased to be able to check into our room by 7:30 AM … this was really good.

We had stressed our desire for a quiet room, but were surprised to be looking down on a urban train track. That said, the train was really not a major bother and was very quiet.

Breakfast was good.

Lounge/bar area is very nice and well-staffed.
