“Gem in the inner city!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2008

Fantastic hotel in the North inner city of Dublin, rooms are perfectly fine with no noise from the overhead Dart/Luas - security on the door as well to ensure that none of the non staying locals get in(they usually hang around the supermarkets just down the road)

Breakfast is adequate - great rate though to stay just 5 minutes away from the IFSC and O'Connell St,.....

Elaine and Tommy July 2008

This hotel is great value for money, you get an excellent breakfast that sets you up for the day. Rooms were clean and spacious, we were a worried on first seeing the hotel from outside as right next door to railway bridge, but our room was at the back so didn't hear anything at all. Location couldn;t have been better 5 minutes walk from O;Connell Street you can't get lost just head for the spire. Also bus station only 5 minutes away as well so easy to get back to airport on local transport. We would definately stay here again and would highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed at the Ripley for three nights. It is located on Talbot Street very near the train station. The hotel is a very short walk to the Spire on O'Connell Street. We wanted a hotel near the Connelly station because we were going on a rail tour (7:00 a.m.) to the Giants Causeway on one of our days in Dublin. The location was perfect for this. The tourist info center is around the corner on O'Connell Street as well as many eateries, grocery stores, etc. The hotel doesn't look like much from the outside but once you get in you see a nice lobby, restaurant & bar. They have internet on 1/2 hour cards (bring your laptop only) for 2eu. The staff was most helpful to us - ordered our taxi, wake up call, and made our reservations at a local restaurant. We walked to the Temple Bar area - not far at all. The maid service was excellent. They have top sheets on the bed which is a plus since most european hotels use the heavy duvets. There was a review from someone that mentioned the "scratchy blankets" - these are a soft "wool" blanket and very nice actually. The view was not good but we didn't mind that since we only wanted location. The room was very quiet (both rooms-we got two) even though it is located very near the train track. None of us heard the train at all. They also have car parking and security cameras. When you drive up there will be an iron gate and someone will come out and let you in. My negatives about the hotel are minimal - the room door squeeked some (just needed a litle W-D40), the phone didn't work in one of the rooms (wake up call was knock on door), the curtains in one room needed a couple hooks, the bathroom could use some hooks for hanging up stuff. That's just nit-pick stuff and would not change my review too much on this hotel. It was a nice stay and we will definitely use this hotel again on our next trip to Dublin.

After reading previous reviews about this hotel we were a little concerned about what we might experience.I am pleased to say that we were pleasantly surprised. Yes the exterior is a little run down but once inside we found the hotel to be clean and spacious. The staff were polite and friendly and although we had arrived two hours before book in as our rooms was ready we were allowed up.
Our rooms were clean and fresh, there was complimentary bottled water (which was replenished both days) but best of all was the powerful shower and the very comfortable beds with extra pillows and blankets available. We were not disturbed by trains or road noise.
We didn't eat in the restaurant but the breakfast was excellent, particularly the bread, and the tomatoes were fresh not tinned, always a bonus! The coffee was good and plentiful and the waiting staff smart and professional.
Yes the carpets in places could do with being replaced but for a three star hotel our stay was totally acceptable,I have paid more for 4&5 star hotels and been disappointed.I would recommend this hotel for its reasonable price, convenient location and for being totally unpretentious.

Had a great stay in this hotel. Room great, breakfast superb and found that the restaurant was also a great option for dinner - beautiful food at very reasonable price. The only criticism is that it could do with improving the exterior and main reception area. However, do not let its outside appearance put you off - definitely worth a visit.

Me and my partner stayed at the Ripley Court for 3 nights in March. The hotel is down a side street off O'connell Street. Its not much to look at from the outside but it really is lovely inside. We arrived at about 8am and check in wasn't until 2pm. This was no problem though. The receptionist let us leave our bags in the baggage room and said there would be a room available for us at around 12ish. This was great as we could start exploring Dublin without having to drag our bags around with us.
When we returned after 12 our room was ready. The rooms are lovely. Very homely and had all the necessities needed - tv, hair dryer, tea and coffee making facilities and plenty of storage space.
We booked B&B and were very happy with the breakfast the next morning.
They had everything you could want. Full cooked breakfast, cereal, toast, fruit etc.
The hotel is down a side street but is very safe as they have a security guard on the door who checks your name and room number as you come in.
We never bothered with the hotel bar and restaurant as there is so many more restaurants we wanted to try in Dublin so I can't comment on this.
The hotel is in a good area. About a 5 min walk to O'Connell St and about 2 min walk to the train and bus stations.
Overall we had a lovely break and we will definately be staying at the Ripley Court next time we visit Dublin ( which I hope is very soon - fantastic city).

Rooms were clean and tidy. Although a window was smashed from the outside on our first of 3 nights, a porter came up and looked at it then no further action was taken and no alterative room was ever offered. Upon check out the receptionist was rude and attempting to serve 2/3 customers at a time. I would stay in any other hotel in Dublin than stay in this hotel again.
