“Hotel for emergency stay only.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

Stayed 4 nights in June.
Pros: Location. Next to O’Connell, short walk to Temple Bar. Airport bus is right at the doorstep.
Cons:
1. Poor soundproofing. Can hear flushing toilets and voices from rooms next door, as well as street noise.
2. Door mechanisms throughout hotel work like mousetraps slamming doors hard against doorframes. Very noisy and shaky! You will not just hear, but also feel when your neighbours coming or leaving.
3. Bathroom was clean, but was designed by somebody with lots of black humor and/or no common sense. When you open bathroom door, sink is immediately to your right partially blocking entrance. No counter and mirror on the wall above the sink. Straight ahead is the toilet, partially blocked by the sink. Mirror and counter BEHIND the toilet!!! You ever tried to do your morning shaving routine when you at the sink and mirror is not in front of you but to the left, separated by the toilet? Try! Lots of fun! Especially considering that lighting is behind you (face in the shade) and half of the mirror is blocked by towels hanging from the rack attached above the mirror. The layout is absolutely disrespectful to the guests! Especially for those with less than perfect vision.
4. Hairdryer was broken. Reported every morning and was promised to fix. Nothing was done.
5. Bed was OK, but squeezed between wall and window with little more than a foot of space both side.
6. No power adapters provided or rented for unique Irish outlets. You have to buy them from machine at the lobby at the cost of 7 euro. Even in poor and developing countries they are provided, sometimes with refundable deposit. Very-very cheap of you hotel management!!!
7. No pen or pencil in the room.
Conclusion: This is place to stay if you are in emergency or need one night only with the convenient connection to airport. Otherwise look somewhere else.

Dear otk25,

Thank you for taking the time to submit your review of your stay on Trip Advisor. Your feedback and evaluation is very important to us and helps us gauge how we are doing and highlights areas where we do well and others where do not do so well from, you, the travellers perspective. Please accept my apologies for any reason that your reports went unattended to and for any frustration this may have caused.

In the rare event that any guest should receive a level of service or product that they are in any way unhappy with a member of management is always at hand to to our very best to put any issues right.

Our power outlets are the same as found in the majority of hotels in the UK and Ireland and we do have adaptors available for purchase for anyone who should not already have one packed when they arrive. We do have a small number available at front desk that can be "borrowed" however they tend to be used up quickly at busier times or simply not returned.

We had a small number of rooms which didn't have pens available for approx. 1 week towards the end of June due to a supply issue. Thankfully this is rectified and again please accept our apologies for any inconvenience.

Thank you again for your invaluable review and hopefully you will give us the opportunity to serve you again in future and in conclusion if something is not right I would encourage you to mention it to a member of the management team so that they are given the opportunity to address and hopefully resolve any issue not matter how big or small to your satisfaction so that the remainder of your stay can be enjoyed. Usually it would be enough to remark to front desk but unfortunately it appears we did not get it right on this occasion.

Yours sincerely,
Peter Collins

We were on a girls trip celebrating a special birthday. The hotel was ideal for walking to local attractions, pubs & restaurants. It was very comfortable and clean with friendly helpful staff. The atmosphere in Dublin at that time was even better than usual as the Tall Ships were in port. The hotel was very busy but the service was in no way compromised.

My wife, seven-year-old daughter, and I stayed in a Triple Room for a week. It can be a little tricky finding a room for three in Dublin so I was glad that the hotel had this type of room.

Overall, the room was very comfortable and clean. On the weekend nights, you could hear music and noise from the bar which is downstairs. This wasn't unbearable and we could sleep through it, but it may bother more sensitive sleepers. We heard noise until about 2 AM.

The location of the hotel is ideal, right of O'Connell Street. The Taxi Stand is really close which was very useful since we did train tours with Railtours Ireland and needed to get to the train station early each morning.

I stayed 3 nights in the hotel , I have to admit I was a bit sad because of the size of the double room , which was quite small . the bathroom is not bigger at all with the door of the bathroom almost touching the sink.... but still happy I had my bathtub ! the bedroom is very clean , the bathroom aswell, the noise of the pub just next to it is quite annoying , on Tuesday and Wednesday no noise at all , Thursday until 3AM or something lots of noise , I can't tell for the end of the week I left on Friday but I guess would be the same ;) for the price I paid even it was not that spacious I have to admit it was fine ! and the best about it . the location ! 1 street from the main Street of Dublin Center, great staff

We spent three nights at this very ordinary hotel in Dublin. It's located just off the poorer end of O'Connell Street but within fifteen minutes walk of the nice end. Locals warned us of dangerous behaviour in this area at night but we didn't go out so didn't see it ourselves.

The twin room was very small so we had to weave our way round the beds. It overlooked a horrible pub outdoor area next door where the disco music began at 10pm as well as some kind of junk that had been dumped there. The hotel is used extensively by tour groups so the lobby is often packed with people and their bags arriving or leaving or just hanging around waiting for their day to begin. There are frequently queues for the lifts.

The hotel seems to think its clients are all petty thieves - the kettle is on some sort of lockable tray inside a drawer and the iron is locked onto the ironing board and the dreaded fixed coathangers abound. The only soap provided is in squeezable packs, mounted to the wall, and they use a sort of shampoo/soap combination in the shower. The towels are small and thin. The hairdryer is awful, running at very low temperature that takes ages to dry your hair. Oh, and that's fixed to the wall as well.

On the plus side the beds are comfortable and the staff in the bar and at reception were smiling and pleasant. We ate at the bar one night. Our lemon squash turned out to be lemon cordial with water, but our haddock and vegetables were OK.

Overall this hotel did not deliver value for money especially compared with what you get for the same sort of money in other big European cities. Its price reflects its location, and not much more. If the beds had not been comfortable I'd have given this hotel a poor rating.

Second time staying here! It's a lovely hotel, great value, great location. Room was a little small but no big deal, it was clean and that's the main thing!

Really enjoyed our stay here. Staff are very friendly and helpful! Would recommend to others.

We stayed for the weekend for Mumford and sons in Phoenix park. Great location for Phoenix park as your central in Dublin and there is a bus on o Connell street that takes you straight to the park at a very cheap price! You're also only a short walk from temple bar.

Great stay, would recommend! :)
