Restaurant in the hotel has wonderful food and the service was great and is very reasonably priced. Loved this hotel and would stay here again. We needed to extend our stay in Dublin and were directed to Academy Plaza by Wynn's Hotel (they were booked solid). We had a very pleasant 5-night stay.

Our room was immaculate. We'd asked for "quiet" and were situated at the end of a hall -- quiet it was. The hotel was recently renovated and the accommodations were fresh, well appointed and modern.

After a great first night's dinner in the main in-house restaurant we ate there every evening and had consistently good meals with more than ample portions. Breakfast was included with our room cost - a buffet with most of the expected items (but no hot cereal) and hot beverages served at table. Nothing special, but a good start to any day.

The front desk staff was great. They recommended a Wicklow bus tour to us (and also made reservations) that was well worth the time and cost. At our request they also made reservations for a Newgrange and Tara tour (less grand).

My only quibble, a minor one, was that I attempted to use the in-room television as internet access. It worked poorly and was almost impossible to navigate. I noticed later there is a free terminal in the lobby that works perfectly well.

This was one of three hotels in Dublin that had false fire alarms during our stay.

All in all, a good hotel and a good value.

Excellent location, just off of O'Connell street. Bus stop for the Tour Buses almost right outside hotel (which we would recommend getting). 10/15 minute walk to Temple Bar and Grafton Street. Quiet as well, didn't hear noise whatsoever from outside.

Rooms nice and clean, although very small. We paid extra for an 'Executive Room' although we failed to see what was 'Executive' about it. We asked reception and was told that we had one of the biggest rooms in the hotel! If that the case I'd hate to see the smallest!

The service wasn't very impressive either. The service in the restaurant was very poor, dinner took 45 minutes to arrive (they forgot about us apparently!) and the staff kept walking around with their heads down, you had to literally shout for assistance. I also had to ask for bill three times! The dinner at the time was ok, but after sampling some of the food in the restaurants in Temple Bar, we decided it was pants! The breakfast in the morning is ok but again the staff seemed to be struggling to cope. The staff at reception were ok but when we asked about room service they tried there hardest dissuade us from using it!

Anyway, we only booked this hotel on price and location so can't complain too much, we was just dissapointed with a few things, espescially as all the other Best Westerns we've stayed in were superb (Barcelona, Baden, Amsterdam).

Stayed at the Academy Plaza for 4 nights over the Easter weekend. Emailed the hotel after booking through an Agent to tell them it was our wedding anniversary and could they reserve us a "nice room with a view".

We were given a free upgrade and allocated a large room on level 5 which had a separate bedroom with 2 single beds, the main bedroom having a massive bed which was extremely comfortable, desk area and 2 chairs, plus a large flat screen tv on the wall. The room was beautifully decorated, and the bathroom was new and spacious.

We didn't have any food in the hotel. There are plenty places to eat within a few minutes walk, either round the corner in O'Connell St or 10minutes to the Temple Bar area. The Alamo Mexican restaurant in Temple Bar and next door - Gallaghers Boxty House were both excellent.

I highly recommend the Academy Plaza and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

This newly refurbished hotel has very clean and modern rooms. They may not be the largest rooms in the industry, but they are very comfy. Everything is new. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I was the group leader for a CIE Tour and everyone was pleased with their accommodations. Some guests were initially given small rooms but the front desk moved them to larger rooms immediatley upon request. After a whole day of touring we were exhausted and decided to eat at the hotel. I am not one for hotel food, as a rule. I can highly recommend this hotel restaurant for the food and value. The location is excellent - right off upper O'Connell Street. The hotel currently lacks a gym although plans to have one in the future. So, get out and walk the streets of Dublin for your exercise.
