“Very nice stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012 via mobile

As usual, another Best Western Plus great property. We were slightly disappointed that we did not receive an included breakfast, but that was stated when we booked the room. Nice location, and the room and property we very clean. A definite recommend if staying in Dublin..

Stayed at this hotel November 20-21st with National Holidays on a bed and breakfast basis.Room was very spacious. With a large bathroom and very clean, we overlooked an office block and side street but it was very quiet.Plenty room for luggage storage and wardrobe space, flat screen tele on the wall very modern and multi channels available also free Wi-Fi which was a bonus.Breakfast very nice and very Irish with continental breakfast also available.Very well located for Dublin centre and within easy walking distance of all main attractions. There was a very good bar next door to the hotel and this was very reasonable.would certainly recommend this Hotel to anyone and would stay here again.

Stayed at this place for more than a week on business. The place has its advantages - a great location, access to all points in the city, away from the city centre noise. The facilities though fall short. The rooms were very small - after putting my luggage I did not have enough space to walk around in the room. The service was normal - nothing that made you sit up and notice ... Very few plug points although I carried around a multi purpose connector so didn't realise the trouble much. Internet was troublesome and slow by, forget about European standards, Indian standards.

If you are looking for a touristy trip to Dublin and spend very little time in your hotel, this is a good place, else there are better places.

Hazel K, Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Academy Plaza Hotel, responded to this review, November 26, 2012
Dear Anush Gurunath

Thank you for your very informative review of the hotel and bringing the above issues to my attention. I’m very disappointed to read that you were not entirely satisfied with your stay. I would like to take this opportunity to apologize for not having met your expectations on this occasion.

I have also noted your comment about the size of your room .Unfortunately a very limited number of our rooms are on the smaller size and are only put into use when hotel is full. Guests can be upgraded to a superior or executive room at cost €19 per night subject to availability.

Our aim here at the Academy Plaza Hotel is to make sure every guest is completely satisfied with there stay before departing. All comments you have made have been noted.

Once again I do apologize for not meeting your expectations.

Kind Regards
Hazel Kumbula

The airport line bus and the hop on hop off are right outside the door. get the ticket at the airport and for e28. you get transportation both ways and 3 days hop on hop off. We stayed 3 days in Dublin so it was perfect for us. Also included the metro buses. Hotel was nice and our room was for three so it was good size and the bathroom was very nice, not huge but big for ireland. Staff was friendly and visit overall was good. There is a lot to do and we spent most of our time exploring Dublin.

The Academy Plaza is in the perfect location for on-foot sightseeing of downtown Dublin. Walk out the door and you're in the heart of this bustling city. The room was clean and comfortable but very cramped. Our 2 large suitcases occupied almost all the free floor space available in our room. Breakfast was traditional Irish fare, very good and very filling. There is free wifi, but you must park around the corner at a public car park. The hotel validates your parking ticket to give you a discount, but it's still rather expensive. If I return to Dublin I will definitely check the availability of this hotel again.

Room Tip: If you need some extra space, check out rooms larger than the standard queen.

I stayed in this hotel for 2 days during a weekend! This hotel is very confortable, very well located and really quiet! The bus from the airport (AirCoach) just stops 50metres from this hotel! You are on the main street of Dublin! The staff is very friendly! No bad comment to do!!

This hotel is fab! Great value, staff helpful and friendly, rooms spotless and comfy, location is great just off O'Connell Street, the only bad bit about the hotel was the coffee in the room, not up to my standards (really is the only bad thing I could say) can't go wrong with this hotel, would definitley stay again!
