“Beautiful Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2010

This hotel was very impressive and the room was beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. There was also a small restaurant/pub on the main floor and the lunch was delicious. There was a beautiful park across the street and you could catch the tram just about a block away. All in all, a very nice experience.

I have just spent a night in the Ashling and was very impressed with everything. A few years ago this is not a hotel I would have considered staying in. It has had a complete makeover. The room was clean and the staff were very polite and helpful. Good choice for breakfast too. Location suited me perfectly as I was heading for the train station early next morning - it is just across the road. The Luas passes right outside for transport into the heart of the city centre. Also I got a great rate over the internet - €87 for a double room with breakfast. Would definitely stay in the Ashling again. Ideal for anyone who doesn't really want to be in the midst of the busy city centre.

If not for the new LUAS tram that runs right past the front of the hotel, I would not be recommending this place for tourists unless you like to do a lot of walking...However, the tram really makes this a great place to stay...The stop is about two blocks from the hotel and 5 Euros will get you an all day pass...The center of Dublin (Temple Bar/Grafton St.) is two stops down the line - about a five minute ride...The Guiness Brewery is three stops in the other direction...
The hotel itself is nice enough...The staff was very friendly and helpful...A buffet-style Irish breakfast is included with your room...The rooms were plenty big and the whole place is kept quite clean...There is a free car park for guests...My only complaint was that the free Wi-Fi did not work in the room - you have to go down to the lobby to get a signal...Overall, a very good place to stay...

Very friendly staff, everyone that I met was cheerful and helpful, excellent air-conditioned room on the 7th floor, bar meal freshly cooked and piping hot, despite the number of coach parties breakfast was very swift, as a bonus they start serving breakfast at 6-45 very useful. Clean, comfortable and excellent value.

Very conveniently located for Heuston Station. Friendly staff but not much of an atmosphere.

I stayed on the 4th Floor, which may not have received a make over yet... as a result, there were a mix of smoking and non-smoking rooms on the floor. No air conditioning and windows that overlooked a noisy street - trash collected @ 6am!

Also there was no Internet connection in the bed rooms - sorry for the inconvenience. Whilst "good value" it may be worth looking for something a little more complete.

Perfect spot for a one-nighter after taking the train from Cork. I was heading back to the US the next day and didn't have a car anymore, so this was a great spot for me. It was a five-minute walk from Heuston Station and also close to the tram into the City Centre. My room was clean and recently renovated, and I had a great view of the city. I didn't spend much time here (went out for dinner/drinks so didn't experience the restaurant) but it was a good base to repack my suitcase, get a good night's sleep, and catch an early taxi to the airport (and I think I paid $88--great deal).

I stayed here with my teenage daughter while on a shopping trip to Dublin. It was great to just drop our bags & go about our business when we arrived. We just got off the train at the train station, crossed the bridge to the hotel, dropped our bags & got either a LUAS or a bus more or less from the hotel to wherever we wanted to go. There was good choice at dinner & breakfast & the room was fine. Next day we left all of our shopping / luggage there while we did some more shopping & just picked our bags up on the way back to the train. Very convenient.
