We recently stayed at the Ashling Hotel for two nights. We were having difficulty finding a hotel in Dublin that had a room large enough to accommodate two adults and two grown teenagers when we booking our trip in January of 2013. We tried apartments and other hotels to no avail. We were fortunate to find the Ashling Hotel. The hotel, though not near the entertainment area (Temple Bar), was a nice quiet choice. The hotel was located on the rail line, hop off and on, which helped out. The hotel is also located near the zoo and old city jail. As a side note, we bought the hop on and off passes. If your time is limited, I would suggest the rail line. Rush hour traffic in Dublin was horrible. Our bus was stuck in traffic for two hours to get to our stop. Remember the bus makes several designated stops and does not deviate because of traffic conditions. If traffic is flowing freely, the bus is a nice option. The hotel has limited "tight" parking, very outdated room, clean comfy bed, but the bathroom lacked an exhaust fan (very steamy). We never ate in the hotel but opted for Juno's, which we loved, and FX Buckley. Both great locations. In the end, we were satisfied with our stay.
