“Surprised - this hotel has improved enormously”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

A last minute overnight trip to Dublin on a rugby international weekend left me with few affordable 4 star hotel choices. I left it up to fate and used the "Top Secret Hotel" option on hotel consolidation website. Their selection was the Ashling Hotel, a place I have known for many years and one which I held a negative opinion of. As such i would NEVER have chosen to stay here on my own volition.
I couldn't have been more surprised upon check in. This place has been completely renovated and the staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating.
Our room was ENORMOUS with three beds; 2 singles and a queen. Bathroom was functional more than stylish with good towels and basic toiletries. The room itself was very warm and stuffy however and there was no way to regulate the heating so we left it on with the window open. The bed was very comfortable and overall cleanliness and presentation was very good.
Located right next to the most important train station (Hueston) with good links to Galway, Limerick, Waterford and Cork but still a taxi, bus or Luas ride from the city centre.
The noon check out time was a boon.
I had lunch after checking out and the bar food was simple but very well done.
Great value overall and I have no hesitation in recommending it to my clients looking for a good value option in Dublin.

It's really hard to choose a hotel when you really don't know the place you are going to. Tripadvisor was a great help and as suggested by a few reviewers I did request a room at the front on a higher floor for my parents which they absolutely loved - especially the view. We had a family room which was huge - no view but with a double and two single beds we had one each! Fab big freshly refurbished bathroom too.

Breakfast great, staff lovely, meal in the bar delicious, car parking easy and so close to the Guinness Storehouse which we really enjoyed visiting. If you want to indulge in some Irish hospitality we recommend that you book in for dinner at Nancy Hands - 200m down the road, We loved it there too.

Oh...one more tip...take the lift up to the 6th or 7th floor ... the view is fantastic!

Room Tip: Higher floors on the front have a better view and less noise from the tram.

I've stayed here twice, both times mid-week while in Dublin on business. The first time I stayed in a Queen size double room for €80, the second time I tried their single room for €67. Don't try and save money - the single room was a big let down, and not worth the money.

It's a really nice, modern hotel. Everything is pristine, new(ish), and in working order. The Queen sized rooms that normally go for €10 above their cheaper room rates are far better. The single room (with a single bed) is very small for a 4 star hotel, and to my mind doesn't justify the 4 star label or the €67 price tag.

But, it's still one of the better Dublin hotels for business travellers, so long as you go for a decent sized room with a grown up bed. It's idealy lovated next to Heuston station, which is on the Red Line Luas - 8 minutes to the city center, 12-15 to the IFSC.

Oh, and the large beds are outstanding - most comfortable bed I've slept in in a long while.

Stayed here in November with some of my family and again on my own 03/02/13 we all think this hotel well above average for a 4*. Fantastic breakfast selection, lunch and evening meals were also top class even the food in the bar was great and always with a nice buzz. Cant understand how 1 comment states not a 4*!! Me and my family will definately stay here again, we found the customer care by all the staff excellent, with very clean and comfortable rooms in a great location. Well Done to all the staff at the Ashling.

Room Tip: Rooms at front have great views but if your a light sleeper like me will hear the traffic from road...

Just came back from the Ashling hotel, what can I say but everything about the hotel is excellent, especially for a 4 star hotel. Rooms were lovely and clean , bathroom amazing . We stayed in a superior deluxe queen room, it was so spacious. Full Irish breakfast even had a thumbs up from my husband. So much choice and all staff excellent service. We ate in the evening too, we had the set menu and it was superb. Very close to Heuston station and excellent for the stop on the Tram. This hotel really made our stay in Dublin.

This was my first time to Dublin; in fact, first time to Ireland. The hotel stands impressive in a good position. The Reception desk were helpful, polite & cheerful. Plus, the Bar & Catering staff were exemplary in their attention to detail, and conscientious in their jobs. A credit to the Ashling Hotel ! Also, the food was delicious; especially the evening meals. Well done to the "Chefs" ! Looking forward to a "return" visit !

Dont now where to start, the whole experience was delightful. Very clean spacious room, and bathroom was spotless. The whole hotel was immaculate. I found ALL the staff very pleasant and more than helpful. The ambience is very good, you would not know you are in the middle of Dublin. I would definitely go back. Well done the Ashling, you have the whole package. No problem recommending this hotel.
