The lobby to the hotel is modern, but still has a charm. The bar, restaurant, and lobby are in the "castle", while the rooms are largely in an add on structure built onto the back. Parking is more than abundant. Finding the place was about as easy as could expect for a first time ireland driver. The location is about a 5 minute drive from most of Dublin's attractions.
My wife and I arrived early (10 AM), and though the rooms were still being cleaned, we were able to drop off our bags until check-in at 2 PM. We did some things around town and then came back for a much needed nap. The room was well furnished like most American hotels, although I would say the shower was nicer than normal. The bed was also very comfortable. We planned on sleeping for half an hour and woke up 2 hours later.
Internet was readily available through wifi but it seemed the cable television required a charge. If you're like us the cable won't be a concern. After dinner we came back to the "Knight's Bar" for a few drinks. Be wary places in Ireland stop serving food, and dessert, early and the bar in the hotel is no exception. At midnight we were able to get drinks only and soon it was last call.
Breakfast in the morning was a buffet style irish breakfast as provided by our CIE voucher. It was good but not incredible.
