“Excellent Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012

This hotel is right in the middle of the trendy temple bar area. You will be able to walk out your door and easily get to anything you want to do. No need for a cab if you stay here. If you have a car, ask them where to park, its called the Fleet St Garage and its 1/2 price.

Hotel has free wifi

The only negative is that the room is really small, plain and barren, but who cares, you are in Dublin! Room was clean and plenty for us! I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

The location was great, only one block from the main street in Temple Bar and one block from the main road Dame Street, just south of the river. It is very noisy during night time since a nightclub is located in the ground floor of the hotel, which could be of concern for light sleepers. The rooms are quite large and clean. The wirleless Internet network is not guaranteed to be accessible in all rooms but seemed to work okay in the corridor outside out room. There is lots of pubs and some nightclubs is the area which is a bit touristy. On the other side of Dame Street there is also nice pubs and live music places, frequented by more locals. There are also lots of shopping, nice coffee shops and restaurants there. For malls and larger clothing chains the shopping area on the other side of the rive is not far away. I would stay here again if I got the same nice price. Dubliners are very friendly, helpful, polite and fun.

Room Tip: Choose a room which does not face Cope Street where a noisy night club is situated.

For the price we paid in the centre of town I was expecting something grubby and tiny but I was very surprised when we walked into a comfortable, clean, warm room. The location is great - right in the middle of the city centre and a very short walk to all major attractions. The only downside for me was that we had no tea/coffee facilities in the room but there is a Starbucks and Costa on the same street. We also couldn't access wifi in our room because we were on floor 4 which was a shame.

The staff were very friendly. We were given some vouchers for free drinks in the pub attached to the hotel, we were offered a map of Dublin and anything else we needed was never a problem.

If I came back to Dublin I would stay at this hotel again because it's location is perfect - lots of restaurants and pubs nearby. If you can't deal with the noise then don't stay here or in a central hotel.

Well located a minute or so from central Temple Bar, Blooms offers a good location to stay in this vibrant city with its own bar (and good live music!) and basement nightclub (which residents get into for free!).

It may be a little bit noisy (unsurprising because of the location) but the twin rooms size and facilities are sufficient to keep the majority of vistors pretty content for the duration of their stay.

Try the Mongolian BBQ restaurant just next door for fresh basicallly DIY, choose your flavours and content BBQ food, and Oliver St John Gogarty's at the bottom of the road, a Dublin must visit pub and music venue. Just great!

On checking in the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. She also gave us two vouchers for free drinks at the bar which you could exchange for a Pint of Guinness, Larger or Baileys. The room was very clean, bed comfortable. The room had a flat screen wall mounted TV and a safe. The only down side for me was there was no tea/coffee facilities in the room. That said, not a major issue. Bathroom was very clean and tidy and the room was cleaned to a high standard on a daily basis.

Food was excellent which consisted of a help yourself cereal and hot food breakfast bar. The sausages and bacon were of a very high standard, tasty and not the usual tasteless catering meat that you often find in inferior places.

The bar is excellent with good facilities to watch sport on a number of large flat screens and live irish music most nights. Bar staff are also very polite and will come to your table to serve you.

I would definitely stay there again and hope to very soon.

Room Tip: It's Dublin !!! be prepared for noise. There is a nightclub under the Hotel. If noise isn;t you...

I have been in many hotels, but this have been the only bad and worse experience hotel i had in my life, so to warn you i write this review.
To do the checking we had to wait for 30 minutes as many people were waiting and they did have only a receptionist on duty. We were asked to give 50 euros deposit per room or they would charge it from credit cards, first time ever. We were told it was a hotel policy in case we break or steal something, so instead give you a nice welcoming as one of their hotel customers they give you the treat as quite the oppossite from a nice welcoming. They wouldnt give as a room if we did not pay a deposit per room booked.

Next step, we were given they key card for the rooms, our surprise was when we tried to open the door for several times and it didnt open, so we had to go down again to ask for another card. We stayed there 4 days and everytime you were trying to go into the room after being out they key wouldnt work and you would have to go down again to reception, wait minimum 20 minutes and ask for another key and cross fingers hoping the new card would be working..... We were a group of friends staying in 4 rooms, just one of the rooms didnt have this problem, the other 3 rooms we had this problem every time we left room and try coming in again.

Rooms ? The rooms were basic, beds were pretty small, some of the rooms had very old and stained carpets. The walls were not recently painted and they were full of marks, really filthy.
The small bin containers either in the room or bathroom were filthy, totally dirty, they wouldnt use any bags on them, so you can imagine yourself....... The shower curtains seemed to be old with full of yellow and red colour stains, the baths were slippery, old and filthy, in the rooms we stayed they only had bath, they were not showers. The bathroom tiles were black colour, rreally dirty, as you can see in other travellers pics.... They didnt have tea/coffee facilities in the room. The window curtain was filthy aswell and full of holes from cigarettes, The windows itself were dirty and even was hard to have a view..........
The housekeeper didnt change the bed clothing in the 4 days we stayed there in any of the rooms, didnt hoover the room or clean anything in the room, they did just change the towels and put straight the sheets from bed and thats all, no cleanless at all. Last day we did ask a foreign housekeeper to talk with the supervisor housekeper and we were told there is not supervisor in blooms, so i think that says everything about this hotel.

The staff ?
Reception- there was an irish lady who was very sweet and helpfull, very professional and friendly with a smile on her face everytime we did see her. There was also a very rude and impolite blond foreign receptionist, i would say she was polish, the times we did ask her anything she wasnt any nice or helpfull but she did turn on her back to us, first time we have experienced that in a hotel, as example a day i was trying to get internet in the lobby (where it was only suppossed to work), told her if she knows why i cant conect if she can help or give me any tip, she said it just should work and turned on her back, hard to believe in a hotel reception they can have working someone like this, and the best of that that i was only alone there, she wasnt busy at all....

Waiting and bar staff- The bar staff was nice and friendly, some of them same as Club M. For breakfast there were 2 girls in different days, one was friendly and cheerfull she was foreign. And the another one ? The other was just see to believe! It was an strong irish young woman, she loved to talk and talk and ask personal private details to every client she had the chance to talk, i noticed she was particularly talking with the men customers, so as we were men too we did have our questions turn aswell, no detail to lose ! From are you single ? whats your occupation ? holidays or work job ? Loads of questions ! something we think is totally not professional and there was not any education type involved with this waitress asking such questions, the best was before we left on our first day breakfast staying there she gave us written on a piece of paper her mobile number and told us dont hesitate to call for anything you wish..... so one of my friends did call later during day to find out, we were very surprised about what was on offer ! hard to understand and to believe this kind of behaviour in a hotel in these days.......

Housekeeping ? Every day seemed we had a different housekeeper coming to our rooms, all of them foreign and with a very bad speaking english. As i was in dublin i was expecting the staff spoken language was english but it wasnt in this case, they would talk just in front of you in another language but not english ! Our rooms were on the third floor, they had there their own work room, since early in the morning till late in afternoon you would listen them screaming and laughing as loud as they could, calling each others, playing between them, it wasnt possible to stay quite or rest in the rooms while they were on duty, that seemed to be from very early in the morning till 5 or 6. One of our rooms was the room number 306, every afternoon from 15 pm to 17 pm they were sitting on the floor in the corridor, three, four or five girls, blocking the corridor, screaming and laughing. If we were going to enter the room or going out from it, we needed to wait till they get up from the floor to let us go the way and then they sit down on the floor again. It have been the first time we have seen that in a hotel. And they always sit and stayed screaming next to our room number 306, it must be a reason but we dont know why it was always there, the fact was that we only could rest, enjoy and be quite when they were off duty.

The hotel was in the very city centre of dublin and the food from the vat house was delicious and very dear too. The breakfast was some days better than others, i supposse it was depends the chef was in each day, but it was ok, lots of variety and fresh food.

We did enjoy dublin a lot and only bad thing we can comment about dublin was the hotel where we stayed, blooms this case, we wont be back here again and we recommend you to stay as far away as you can from this hotel cause hotels in the city centre there is loads, but i am pretty sure bad as this one will be hard to find in the whole city.

Stayed at this hotel over the halloween bank holiday weekend. The hotel its self is perfectly suited to the Temple Bar area and for the main high street shops. The breakfast was good, the rooms were comfortable, reception supplies ear plugs as the noise from the nightclub underneath can be quite loud! However, if you want a central location for nightlife in Dublin, then you cant complain! The only downside, tea coffee making facilities in the rooms would have been a nice touch! But nine picky ladies were satisfied with the hotel and we will definitely book again when we return!
