“Quirky and clean”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

What a contrast to the standard corporate hotel chains.

From the entrance with oversized purple velvet chairs to exposed brick work in bedrooms, the Trinity City Hotel is not you standard business hotel.

The standard rooms are clean and functional with small pieces of ddesign flair, however get and upgrade. And experience anything from a balcony overlooking a courtyard bar with fake animals to mirrored bathrooms with double Jacuzzi.

All the hotel is spotless, the staff friendly and the bar is welcoming.

The location of the hotel is excellent within 5 minutes walk of the iconic Temple Bar Area

Don't be mislead by some of the pictures. This is a much more modern upscale hotel.

The hotel is within easy walking distance of the Temple Area and Trinity. Yet it is out of the way of a lot of the noise and bustle of the party crowd. The staff are pleasant and helpful. The rooms are comfortable, but not spacious. We think the price for room during special events is very high for what you get.

On the good news-bad news side, it is next door to a firehouse and police station. Not a problem for me, but could be for others.

My fiancé and I just returned from a 3 night stay at the trinity city, and must say we had a wonderful wkend.
We stayed on a breakfast included option although the food was delicious and plentiful, we found on our first morning we were shown to our table and wen we went to serve our food to which they run out of baked beans.. On our return to our table we had an American lady telling us off for taking her table which obviously the staff had made an error and placed us both there. So had to put up with dirty looks from the American lady throughout breakfast. I think there needs to be a better system put in place to prevent this as it happened again on our 3rd morning.
Our room was very clean and comfortable but not quite as nice as the rooms shown on the website we had fresh towels daily and bed linen was changed after the 2nd night. Our room looked out into the fire station which after reading reviews before booking I'd decided wouldn't bother me too much but found that a 7 o'clock siren alarm clock was a bit of a pain.
The biggest plus point of the hotel is the location.. Literally 5 min walk to the city centre which meant we never had to use the public transport. That in itself would make me choose this hotel again.
I wouldn't say it's the perfect hotel for 4stars I think I expected too much, but it's is a quirky clean friendly centrally located hotel with a tasty breakfast and I would return but request a room not overlooking the fire station!!

Warm and friendly service throughout stay. Breakfast was very good with a large selection. Dinner was a disappointingly lack lustre affair and to be honest we had much better food in the Temple bar area. Wouldn't dine here again. Rooms were OK but only average and looked much more promising in photos. Very clean and comfortable though. Would I stay again, possibly at a push.

With its central city location, the Trinity City is hard to beat for convenience and value. You can (and we did) spend days on foot exploring Dublin's core with the hotel as your home base. Everything from Trinity College and the Book of Kells (across the street) to Dublin Castle, the amazing National Museum, the Temple Bar and more are in walking distance. Even the renowned Abbey Theatre is a short stroll away. Location, location, location is the Trinity's biggest asset.

The purple decor of the hotel grew wearing as the days passed; it's as if the designer was trying too hard to make the place hip. It's quirky and over the top, but comparable to other boutique hotels I've experienced. Our standard room was smallish (expected) with inadequate ventilation, even with the window open 24 hours a day. However, the bed was nice, traffic noise wasn't a problem and the bathroom was freshly renovated (with plenty of water pressure).

Service at the front desk and restaurant was excellent, with a staff always ready to answer questions and assist guests.

I enjoyed the breakfasts and they compared well to others we experienced elsewhere on our trip. Service was quick, the food always hot, with a good variety of options. Dinner at the restaurant was unremarkable, so I suggest eating elsewhere. You have plenty of better options nearby.

In short, I give the Trinity City a rating of 4/5 as a three-star hotel. I'd stay there again because of the convenient location, but would upgrade to a more spacious and ventilated room.

Room Tip: As others have noted, ventilation in the standard rooms is inadequate, so spend a few extra Euros to...

Was not expecting to have walked into an Alice in Wonderland book, but it works. The decor is a bit out there, but fun and clean! Purple is the color of the interior walls and the lighting on the outside of the building at night!!

Staff is helpful and very nice! Although with a packed hotel, we were running them a bit ragged!
Our rooms were good sized.
Only issue for me was water pressure. I'm on the 4th floor of the old section. My family was down on 2 in a 3 bed room, and they had a newer bathroom with great water pressure.

This hotel can be described as a sort of alice in wonderland type atmosphere. There are many animals situated around the hotel such as the giant dogs at the entrance, elephant in reception, camel in the bar or the tiger and aligator on the roof. All of which are great fun and add to the eccentric vibe the hotel has. There are large purple chaise lounges and high back chairs in the reception area and some of the mirrored corridors do make you feel like your walking down a never ending path. All of these quirks add to the charm of the hotel and I feel they make the hotel public areas very nice places to hang out and relax. The rooms themselves do differ quite a lot the basic rooms all be it nice are just basic. The nicer Tara rooms are lovely with massive beds, walk in wardrobe areas, big jacuzzi baths and added bose sound sytems and large tv's. I would definitely recommend paying the small extra amount to upgrade to one of these. The food was very nice with bar menu options or a la carte restaurant. The hotel isnt quite in the town centre and is a short walk however it is a pleasant walk in the sun and a nice way to see Dublin.
