I was very impressed with the Mespil. It is located in a great area of Dublin. On a short walk into town (maybe 30 minutes tops to Trinity College) we passed the canal, the beautiful Georgian Doors, and St. Stephens's Green. The route we took spit us out in the shopping district, which is pretty much the center. There is a city bus (10 or 10A) which will take you there for a little under 2 Euros. There is also a city tour bus which stops in front of the Mespil, it is all very convenient so don't be oput off by the "distance" from the center, it is in a really great location.
The hotel rooms themselves are great. Clean, and spacious for my husband and I. They even have a great kettle with tea and coffee in the room. Bathroom looked brand new. We had a great veiw of the canal, which was a nice bonus. The rooms were quiet, and the beds sooooo comfortable. I had the best sleep I've had in a long time.
They offer full meals here, and have a bar as well. We had breakfast one morning, and it was very good. There is also a Starbucks right next door, and several other convenience right around the corner (quicky mart, bagel shops, a pub).
Additionally, they rent umbrellas, plug adapters, and will even charge your cell phone for you. And there are two computers in the lobby for free guest use. The front desk will give you a map, and point out public transport as well.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone, it really was great.
