I've stayed at a lot of nicer US hotels, and this is one of the nicest places I've ever stayed in anywhere. Classy is a better description. We got a GREAT rate for our last two nights in Dublin of a 10 night Ireland vacation. I did a lot of research and settled on this, and I was thrilled with the Davenport. We stayed the first night of our vacation across the street at the Mont Clare, then moved on. The Mont Clare is nice and perfectly fine, but the Davenport is quite a bit nicer. So if you compare prices and get a decent price on the Davenport, stay there. The rooms are immaculate and first class. Very clean bathrooms and halls. Loved the bar, although it was rather quiet when we were there. Perfect location as a base to explore Dublin - within walking distance of just about everything, including Temple Bar area. Decent pubs closeby (and pubs for some of the not-so-young anymore! So you're not locked into Temple Bar.) Free parking a few blocks away - a little tricky getting in and out, but free and secure. Really fantastic location and very beautiful hotel. We had 4 rooms and there's a pub across the street which apparently you can hear late at night from some of the rooms, but I didn't hear it. Really, really, nice place which we got at a fantastic rate, even for Dublin, which included a full breakfast. I'd stay here (first choice) or Mont Clare across the street (second choice) my next time in Dublin - they are both part of the same O'Callaghan chain. You can't go wrong with Davenport - it's high class, elegant and charming right in one of the best locations in Dublin.
