“Great Week in Dublin!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

I have just returned from a trip to Dublin, and had a great time! During my stay in Dublin, I stayed at the Gresham Hotel. The hotel is in a great location in Dublin. Everything is within walking distrance from the hotel. Temple Bar is about a 5 minute walk, the Guiness Storehouse is about a 15-20 minute walk, and St. Patricks Cathedral is about 15 minutes away. The hotel itself is very comfortable. Check in and check out was very quick and easy, and the rooms in the hotel are nice. Our room had an outlet for American style electrical sockets, and 110v electricity. Overall, I would stay at this hotel again. The best thing about the hotel is definitely the location, but the rooms and ammentities of the hotel are also nice.

Upon arrival at The Gresham, on a bitterly cold Dublin day, I was allocated a room - very well appointed and clean - but without any heating! The bathoom heated towel rail was switched off when I arrived, but even when on was barely warm, as was the "hot" water. Having asked for the heating to be checked, I returned to my room after dinner to find that I had been given a small heater and a couple of very suspect looking blankets. 24hrs later nothing had changed and I believe that this would have remained the case for my entire 4 night stay had I not complained. Upon complaint, I was given an upgrade - something I didn't ask for but was glad to accept - but at no time did any of the reception staff offer an apology for my discomfort and inconvenience.
On the upside, the hotel bar area is lovely, the staff brilliant and the food very good - but beware of buying water there as we were charged 12 Euros for 2x1litre bottles. Toddy's, the hotel's restaurant was a real let down - we found the menu poor and the food even poorer - disappointing for a 4* hotel. Breakfast was excellent. Everywhere was clean and comfortable and, for the most part, the staff were brilliant. Only the reception staff were somewhat indifferent.
I came away feeling that this hotel let itself down in some of the most basic areas which was a great shame as some of it was so good.

Room Tip: Make sure the heating has been checked before accepting any room!!

Lovely room. Very spacious with everything we needed. Arrived at 10.30 hoping to just leave our luggage to be told our room was ready!!! Very helpful and friendly staff. Will definitely be returning . Didn't eat at the hotel as food was very pricey. Not a problem as the choose was endless only a short walk away. Wish we could have stayed longer.......

Room Tip: We requested a room at the front of the hotel which was provided with a lovely view over o,Connell s...

The hotel may be a hundreds of years old but it remains a great hotel. Good location at the top of oconnell st. Nice sized rooms and great bars. I travel to dublin on business every two weeks and will definitely return to the Gresham

The Gresham is excellently situated, very clean and comfortable and the service provided by the staff second to none.
Really enjoyed our stay. The room was lovely, the facilities excellent and we were able to get around Dublin with ease due to the central location.
I can highly recommend the afternoon tea :-)
We received great value for money and the hotel exceeded our expectations for the price we paid.
I would highly recommend The Gresham and look forward to returning as soon as I can :-)

Room Tip: Higher floors are serviced by both stairs and lifts.

Most well known hotel in central Dublin!! Got this on a groupon deal and used it to treat my daughter for her Birthday! Felt like stars entering the Hotel lobby, it's elegance was timeless!! The receptionist was aa young guy who was extremly attentive and looked after us very well! We stayed in a twin room which was on the small side but fab!! The bathroom was huge. Tea/coffe making facilities etc where excellent! but we chose to go to the bar for a cream tea which was included on our deal! it was very busy and we where served within minutes!!

We went off to shop and we shopped till we dropped!! on our return we ordered dinner in the Restaurant, we had the nicest waiter , he looked after us so well. The cocktails he recommended were to die for!! the food was amazing and very reasonable (15 euro for the mains) after a dinner a quick change and back down to the bar to meet with friends(brilliant nite) and our Barman could not do enough for us! Breakfast the next morning was lovely! catering for all tastes and the late checkout was a godsend! Loved every minute!!!

Room Tip: Forth floor room v quiet

We stayed in the Gresham for 3 nights.

It’s just a short walk to Temple Bar and all the other things to see. There is a stop for the hop on – hop off busses and directly opposite the taxi rank that will get you to the airport.

They have a friendly staff. We could borrow a power plug travel adapter for free.

The room was very clean en well maintained. I would definitely choose this hotel again.
