“Excellent”

Conrad Dublin

My wife and I stayed at the Conrad Dublin in late June 2008 and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. We used Hilton HHonors points to book the stay, but even then we were upgraded to a suite. We are Hilton HHonors Diamond members, which I'm sure was the reason, but to be upgraded even for a rewards stay was a pleasant surprise.

The staff was also extremely helpful and everyone from the bellman, to the front desk, to room service, to the wait staff in the pub were friendly and attentive.

I also particularly liked the location as it was quiet and a nice 10 - 15 minute walk through St. Stephen's Green park to Grafton street. Although, I can see that someone that is either unable or unwilling to walk into town might find this a bit of a negative.

Overall, however, we had a lovely stay and will stay at the Conrad when we are next in Dublin.

Whilst a nice hotel with comfortable beds this is not a 5 star hotel at all. Staff are not very attentive and the hotel lacks character and sole. Had to wait for service in both bars even when they were quiet.
I have stayed in lots of hotels where you are made to feel special and important, it is this that makes a 5 star hotel not just a king size comfortable bed.

“Conrad Dublin - good location”

My husband and I stayed here from a Friday to Monday. The hotel was very nice, clean and modern and the staff were friendly and helpful. We had a standard room with double bed and bathroom - all very nice and clean though not as spectacular as Conrad Hotel in Chelsea Harbour, London. Bed was superbly comfortable with lovely big, soft pillows and duvet. Tv with some SKY channels. We had dinner in the pub located lower-ground inside Conrad - food was just ok, surroundings very dark, little atmosphere. However, there are many pubs/eateries all around Dublin which have lots of Irish atmosphere. It was my first time in Dublin and 3-days was not enough. We're not big drinkers but you can't go to Dublin and not visit some pubs - the music and people were great and we did a bus tour which I can recommend. Another must, if there's anything on, is at the Concert Hall oppo. the hotel - we went to a `Motown' evening which was fabulous and we managed to purchase our reasonably priced tickets on the door the same evening as the show. Shopping is fantastic and there's a beautiful park just along the road from the Hotel which has many people selling art-work on a Saturday morning. All in all a good hotel in a good location.

“Great Hotel, Great Location”

Conrad Dublin

Just returned from a 3 night stay at the Conrad Hotel, Dublin. Great contemporary style hotel. Everything you'd expect from a 5star hotel, quality rooms, friendly professional staff, good food and wine list. The location was fab, just a few minutes walk from St. Stephens Green, the other side of the Green took us to Grafton Street, the Liffey, Temple Bar and Trinity College.

Would highly recommend visiting the Kilmainham Gaol (Jail), especially if you want to learn and understand about Irish history/politics. The Green Line tourist bus stops at the jail, so you can do after the Guinness Storehouse (a definite must for your pint of Guinness at the Gravity Bar, fantastic view of Dublin).
Lunch at the Guinness restaurant (5th floor) was very good, bacon, cabbage and potato, lovely :-))

Also, try the Old Jameson Distillery. Not a working distillery but a very good tour (we had an exceptionally good guide, who made it fun) and I participated in the whisky tasting at the end, which was also good fun (comparing other whisky's from Ireland, Scotland and America). So if you like whisky, put your hand up to volunteer after the screen show.

Would I recommend the Conrad. Absolutely. The only down side is that we had to pay for breakfast, which was a bit pricey, so try and get breakfast included in the price you pay for the hotel.

“Best Choice For St. Stephens Green Area”

Conrad Dublin

The Conrad is a first-class hotel without the pretense and stuffiness of some others in the area. The rooms were well-appointed and the bed reminded me of the Heavenly Beds at Westin properties. What really sets the Conrad apart, however, is the staff. As others have noted, the bellmen, concierge, and desk staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. When we arrived both pieces of my wife's luggage had been obliterated by the baggage handlers at Dublin airport. The staff took a personal interest in helping us replace the bags and damaged contents. A cab driver told us later that when the nearby Shelbourne hotel closed for a two-year rennovation they let most of their staff go and that many of these people have found work at the Conrad.

My only hesitation in giving it five stars were some service problems in the restaurant on our first visit. But when we returned two weeks later those problems had been resolved and the service was superb.

This will be my first choice for future visits to Dublin.
