“Excellent Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2010

This hotel is in an excellent location - great for sightseeing, so central to everything. Arrived at lunchtime to book in & my room was ready for me. Girl on reception was very friendly. The room was average size & was a smoking room as I had requested, however the net curtains could have done with a wash. The beds were extremely comfortable. Had dinner that evening in hotel as we were in a hurry - I had chicken strips & chips, my friend had the beef pie - mine was fine, but my friends was just ok. The hotel could do with a little bit of updating and a good spring clean every now and again, but overall I had a very pleasant stay and would return again. We had a room to the back of the hotel and was extremely quiet.

My husband and 13 year-old daughter stayed in Buswells for three nights, and wound up having to stay another two due to the volcanic ash from Iceland that closed down all air travel. They were incredibly accommodating to us, and made us feel a little less stranded.
The rooms were spotless and wonderful (coffee/tea and shortbread cookies each morning); the beds absolutely plush; and the pub food in the downstairs restaurant turned out to be not only some of the best we had but also was a good deal. Oh, and the location was perfect!

The staff we dealt with were fabulous -- from the bartenders and waiters to the people at the reception desk -- just incredible customer service and care. I highly recommend this place!

Had a comfortable single room for 9 days while visiting daughter at Trinity College. Loved my room with tea and cookies with lovely bed and bathroom. Just loved the service desk help who were all Irish. They provided dining and drinking suggestions that were off the beaten path as well as places to listen to traditional music where the locals frequent. The location was excellent close to all of the attractions and right in downtown, but on a fairly quiet street. Would and did recommend this to others

Spend a night in Buswells in early February and really enjoyed it. The hotel itself is an old fashioned and atmospheric place, with a lovely warm feel to it. I had dinner in their Truman's Restaurant and everything about it was faultless, especially the main course of salmon, which was especially good. Its location, right alongside Government Building and National Museums, and within a few short minutes of the Temple Bar and Grafton Street areas, are ideal for Tourists in particular. I would happily recommend it to anyone and will even more happily return myself when next in Dublin

The only thing that lets this hotel is the rooms. Needs a bit of a room renovation, but overall really good value for money. I really enjoyed my stay!

Will be back.

Stayed here for one night on a trip to Dublin compliments of the Quinn group. The entrance & lobby to the hotel is very warm & inviting, with lots of character. The receptionist was very friendly & helpful. Our room was large & spacious, and very comfortable. I would definately stay in this hotel again & would recommend it to family & friends. GREAT LOCATION!

this was our second stay at buswells withiin 2 years .things havent changed the reception area is old world glamour but when you look closely the carpet is stained and the paintwork is chipped the bedrooms are dark and dowdy .the hotel has bags of character and the staff are friendly and helpful. The bar food was poor value and very average .THe breakfast was faultless .While i do not not like the shabby interiors my husband adored the quirkiness and character of the building and the interiors. He detests the souless new hotels that all look the same. The location is great a lick of paint and a freshen up would do wonders for this very special and charming hostelry.
