“Quaint Ends at the Sidewalk - Just DIRTY”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2012

Our first mistake was booking through Hotels.Com. Our second, believing the pictures. Yes, the outside of the "hotel" looks as it does int he picture. But it should be advertised as a really cheap and dirty hostel. It was dirty, grimey and run-down from the hotel lobby to the room. The room, a double, did have a bed. That is the only good thing to say: the carpet must have been installed a good 30 years ago, as they were caked with black dirt wear patterns. There was actually food ground into the carpet that had very obviously not seen a vacuum in months - maybe years. The smell in the room was that of body sweat and staleness. It was warm when we were there, the window was wide open (w/o a screen) and it was probably 80 degrees in the room. The bed had a 40 degree slope. We genuinely feared bed bugs. Overall, this place was disgusting, dirty, dingy and in need of much MUCH renovation to be advertised as a hotel. The ONLY thing going for it was it's proximty to Temple Bar - and frankly, there are far better hotels even closer if that is what you are looking for. PLEASE AVOID THIS HORRIBLE PLACE.

Room Tip: Don't stay here - stay elsewhere and you will get a better room. The sidewalk in the midst of t...

Arrived to this premises to find we were given a triple room on the first floor. When we asked if they had anything else available they did but we would have to pay more. We had already paid EUR 97 so we said for 1 night we would stay, big mistake! The room had a double and one single bed, not three beds we had booked. Turned on the tv to drown out the booming noise from down stairs - didn't work. Turned on the side light no bulb, went to reception and was handed a bulb tried to replace it and found the lamp had no connections! Went to make tea, no kettle. Used the shower half the door missing. Looked like a disabled room but if so they wouldn't be able to get their chair in firstly, or access the bathroom and if they did only cold water available in the sink and no rails at the bath. Avoid this 'hotel' and stay on a park bench it would be more quieter and and more accomodating than the staff here. The noise from the bar finished at 3AM and continued outside - no one asked anyone to move away after that we had the beer deliveries begin - 24/7 noise.AVOID AT ALL COSTS EVEN IF IT IS GIVEN FREE.

This so called hotel is a kip,,,I have stayed in hostels that were far classier than this dive...The one and only plus for this kip is its location.

Stayed in the apartment which is completely separate from the hotel and isnt really so much of an apartment (no cooking facilities or couches etc) but rather 3 rooms with ensuites all just connected.. It was up about 3 flights of stairs with no lift so a bit of a pain dragging everything up the stairs. The apartment itself was old but the beds were really comfortable, lovely clean duvets and as we were just staying for the one night and heading out it did the job perfectly. Its right in the centre of temple bar but we didnt here much street noise.. maybe cause we were late getting back in.. but would stay here again especially give the price.. think it was about €160 and the apartment had 3 double beds and one single. It was a bit cold though and we couldnt get the heating going but we never contacted reception so dont know if it wasnt working or not..

This is not the nicest-looking hotel - feels a bit dingy and old and unmodern, but the staff make up for it - the reception staff is one of the friendliest people I have met in Dublin and went out of her way to do anything for me. The rooms are perfectly clean and comfortable. Yes, they are noisy at night because of the area, but the hotel provides ear plugs by your bed side, which is a nice touch! Very hot, power shower! Breakfast was pretty average, but great value. Definitely stay here if you're looking for a cheap and cheerful place in Temple Bar.

This was a good hotel in a great area, but be warned that even in midweeks ( no holiday ) the streets and place where you stay can be very very loud. Theres a pub inside the hotel where theres party all night. Better bring ear plugs.
Beds and room were clean! Bathroom also! Very central to the Temple Bar district with huge amount of pubs and places to be at night!
Good to be reached by Airport bus.
