We stayed at this property for 3 nights in September of 2007. We booked this hotel only because we had a hard time finding availability for the 3 nights in Dublin and because of its location. I will say, in my opinion, the location was the only good thing about the hotel. When we initially entered our room for the first time, my heart sank. Our room was on the Lobby Level of the hotel. The room was very dark. Even with all of the lights on, it was dark. The room had 2 small windows; one in the room and one in the bathroom. Both windows barely opened so fresh air was minimal. There was no fan or AC in the room. On our 2nd night we asked the front desk for a fan and they brought one to our room in about 3 minutes. It was a small desk fan, but it helped circulate the air. The bed was horrible. The mattress seemed to be really old and was very lumpy and uncomfortable. The bathroom looked like it was recently rehabbed (cheaply) but it was clean and functional. It included a small shower stall. The water pressure in the shower was very good. Aside from the bed, the room had a small desk, one chair, a TV with cable, a pant press, electric tea kettle with free tea bags daily and an armoire for clothes storage. We spent most of our time site seeing and out, but every night that we retreated back to the room was awful. I just could not get over how dark and musty it was in there. The front desk will only give out 1 key per room and you must turn our key into the front desk whenever you leave the property. The manager said that this is for fire safety reasons. So if there is a fire, they know who is in their room. The hotel does not have doorman so after 9:00 p.m., you have to ring a doorbell, state your name and room number and then be buzzed into the property. Luckily, they seemed to be very responsive and we never had to wait long at all to be buzzed in. In my opinion, the only good thing about this property is the location. It's on the edge of Temple Bar, close to the River Liffey and walkable to many places. The location is great. The price is not bad either, but next time I'd pay more for a more comfortable room. The restaurant was closed for remodeling so the hotel gave us vouchers for the hotel next door that were honored for our daily Irish breakfast. The hotel next door (name escapes me) seemed much nicer and I would probably stay there the next time around.
