“Great location, but beware of the heat”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2011

The Harding Hotel lies at the edge of Dublin's Temple Bar district, making it very handy to access many popular Dublin sites. The hotel is easy to access from Dublin Airport via Dublin Bus Airlink route 747, which has a stop right around the corner. As well, the hotel is about a five minute walk from Luas red line, Four Courts stop.

The hotel staff were polite and courteous, and made one to feel welcome. The room was small, however, was clean. There was some staining on the carpet consistent with high-traffic usage.

The primary negative issue that was noted was the room was very warm and stuffy. When I inquired about this, staff acknowledged that there were problems in controlling the heat, particularly on floors 4 and 5. Even with a fan and the windows open [of course, allowing the Dublin street noise in] it was still overly warm.

Overall, I liked the hotel, and particularly the location and staff. On balance, the hotel represents a good value for the traveler.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on floors 1-3, or alternatively, if an air conditioned room is available on floor 5.

Stayed there twice, once when arrived in Dublin from the states, and then again after visiting southern Ireland. Good value for price. Great location, but the bells from Christchurch rang and rang all night long. We didn't spend much time in our room so it was okay. No AC, but a fan was provided. The bar just outside of the lobby Darkey Kelly's was fun and the food was good.

Small complaint -- the bathroom is a step up from the room. All of us hit our toes on the ledge. Surprised that none of us broke a toe. This should really be fixed. Showers like all European showers was confusing to operate.

We also thought breakfast was included. It was not, but skip breakfast in adjoining hotel and go around the corner to The Queen of Tarts. It was wonderful!

Room Tip: Ask for an inside room if bells ringing all night are a problem. We didn't notice them, but our...

I stayed here recently as a cheap overnight stay for an early morning meeting in Dublin.

The good.
The location of the hotel is excellent and the staff were very friendly. It is also very reasonably priced for its location which is right in the heart of Dublin.

The Bad
Its hot hot hot in this hotel and it was a normal night outside. When you open the wndow you get plenty of noise from the busy pub and the street outside and of course the half hourly reminders of the fact that there is a large cathedral next door. I heard ever single bell!!

The Ugly

The rooms could do with a good carpet cleaner. The TV was so so tiny about the size of an IPAD maybe 10" screen. Phone could not ring reception had to dial from my mobile to get code from reception.

With a little bit of effort this could be a wonderful hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for top floor facing the courtyard!?!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2011

So my friends and I decided to take a girly weekend to the Emerald Isle as part of a joint 18th birthday party, which just sounds like a brilliant idea!

We booked our hotel and flights together through travelrepublic.com and the hotel and flights cost us around £100 each for 2 nights triple room flying from East Midlands. BARGAIN!

When we arrived we weren't sure what to expect apart from a big airport, lots of people and not knowing where to go. So we went to the tourist help desk and the lady was very helpful, the fast bus into town she told us cost €8 and the cheap bu (the one we took) €2.30, and that took around half an hour and dropped us off at the last stop, which was on O'Connell Street, and from that point you can't really get lost, because it's well sign posted for tourists that could be good at getting lost. Most famous landmarks are sign posted for as are less famous ones, but watch out though some of the roads aren't brilliantly sign posted so look carefully!

From O'Connell Street the hotel was approximately a 10 minute walk if you knew where you were going. My best advice is to cross O'Connell bridge and turn right, from there look for sign posts that say Christchurch and the hotel is directly opposite that, it's about the only red brick building in that area you can't miss it. if you can't find it that way find Temple bar and ask someone they'll probably know!

The hotel staff were very welcoming, it's quite a small and cosy looking hotel, lovely atmosphere and pleasant vibe eventhough the weather wasn't playing with us when we arrived. the room was clean and tidy, clean towels everyday if you wanted beds made and all that jazz just basics that make a pleasant stay when you are in the room, you won't spend an awful lot of time in the to be quite frank. There's a television with BBC programmes, Sky News and what not, there's a hairdryer and an ironing board and trouser press if you need them. However there was no bath only a shower in our en-suite. Downstairs, you can get breakfast for a reasonable Dublin price of €7.95 for a full Irish or €6.50 for continental, but why have continental when you can have full Irish for an extra €1.35! The prices for drinks however were extortionate, especially on Temple Bar €7.30 for a double vodka and coke, that's enough to make you get out another mortgage!

The hotel staff also helped us with different tours, how to get to the Guinness Storehouse and so on, they were very helpful!

I had a brilliant time in Dublin, there are more than enough souvenir shops to get your bits and bobs, and there's a Tescos at the top of Temple Bar past I think it's ThunderRock cocktail bar for necessities. I would recommend this trip to anyone, and DEFINITELY MOST DEFINITELY do a Dublin City Bus Tour (the green hop on hop off bus) they have some brilliant drivers and are reasonably priced and take you to all the good landmarks! Read my further reviews to hear more about my experience of Dublin, it only gets better!

A slightly difficult hotel to review. It was a nice inexpensive hotel in a great location in Dublin. We managed to secure a great rate and thus we're quite pleased with the premises.
However, it is an inexpensive hotel so there were some points of notice. We did like our room enough to sign up for a second night, instead of heading back to the airport area. However, as soon as we added a second night, our electronic room door keys no longer worked. No matter how many times we told the front desk clear that it was likely a programming error, that our first day was "canceled" after adding the second night, they wouldn't believe that. They did try very hard, even to exchanging the batteries in the electronic door lock, but noting worked. Until midnight on the first night and then the key worked. Another point was the carpets could use a good cleaning. The beds and linens were average quality.
Yet, with these issues I would still recommend this hotel. It was what it advertised itself to be, a nice inexpensive hotel in a great location in Dublin.

Room Tip: Request a 5th floor room. It is quieter and ours had some interesting additional space from the dor...

We spent two days and one night in Dublin. We arrived earlier than we were scheduled to show up but the people were very nice and let us get our room early. The hotel offered information about sites to see. The room was a good size, we got a room for three, one double one single bed. We never felt cramped at all in our room. The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable. The temperature of the room was perfect when we were there. the veiw was great, you had to lean a little but I got excelent photos from our hotel of Christ Church. Took the hop-on hop-off tour which isnt far from the hotel. At night it wasn't a far walk to the bar/nightlife, and it was a rather enjoyable walk. We didnt eat breakfast there so Im not sure how the breakfast was.
