Description: Brazil is the largest and most populous country in South America. Almost as if to complement its exciting geographical contrasts, from wetlands to tropical forest to beaches, it also boasts an incredible multi-ethnic mix, which is mirrored in its cuisine. The indigenous Tupi Indians had already mastered the art of preserving meats through smoking and drying by the time the Portuguese colonised Brazil in 1533. They had developed the use and processing of Corn (in particular Corn Porridge) as well as the use of many root vegetables such as sweet potato and manioc (also known as yucca or cassava ).Not only did the Portuguese bring with them their own culinary customs (heavily influenced by 300 years of Moorish occupation) but they also imported slaves from West Africa with their cooking traditions. The use of coconut milk, peppers and dende (palm oil) are amongst the many ideas introduced by the slaves, all of which are prevalent in Brazilian cooking. Many more immigrants followed later, including Western Europeans, peoples from the Middle East and Asia, but unlike the Portuguese and African traditions, their culinary contributions were absorbed rather than evolved. As with many other large countries, Brazilian cuisine has its regional differences, although staple ingredients throughout Brazil today include beans, rice and manioc meal. To the North (includes Amazonas, Rondônia and Pará), the diet is mainly fish, root vegetables and fruit as opposed to the Southeast where the use of corn, pork and beans is traditional. Our restaurant is based in a small baroque city of Ouro Preto (from Portuguese, Black Gold) is a city in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, a former colonial mining town located in the Serra do Espinhaço mountains and designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO because of its outstanding Baroque architecture. A different and enjoyable option for a FINE DINING Brazilian Restaurant. A cozy atmosphere for pleasant moments with friends and partners. Excellent food and proud to show our diverse culinary dishes to europeans.

“Best ever dining experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2014 via mobile

I went to Sabor Brazil last night for my birthday. From the moment we walked in, it was the most enjoyable experience. I've been to some Michelin star restaurants before and have often felt quite uncomfortable as they're often quite pretentious. This was the most comfortable and welcome I have ever felt in a restaurant. We had a voucher and were treated exactly the same as everyone, unlike some restaurants where vouchers are almost frowned upon. The food was absolutely delicious and nicer than anywhere I've been before! The cheese breads were amazing and we got offered some more after we had finished! Similarly with the cheese board, we were offered more after finishing. The steak was delicious in a sauce I could have drank all day! Prawns were delicious, with a nice bit of heat! Dessert was gorgeous, mascarpone cream that tasted like a gorgeous creme brûlée type filling...all so good! Even got a candle in my dessert and a rendition of happy birthday! Got prosecco on arrival, followed by a mojito type Brazilian cocktail, as well as port with the cheese board! We were going to order a bottle of wine but glad we opted for a glass each instead given the amount of free drinks! We asked which wine was nicest between 2 and we were offered a free tasting of both to help us decide. Nothing was too much trouble! Thanks to Alex, Tom and Fernando for making our night so memorable! When we were about to leave, we were told to wait a moment so that the staff could personally thank us and shake our hands before departing. Will definitely return!

“2nd time lucky”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2014

I ate here recently for the second time, this time we brought some friends as we enjoyed it so much the first time around. Second time was even better than the first. Small changes to the menu were very well received. Excellent service and food. You should definitely experience this restaurant.

“Just amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2014

Went to sabor on Friday night with my husband for our second time well what can I say again. The fusion of this chef experience with his fresh produce delivers a wonderfully exciting meal. His creative approach to his food is beautifully cooked and presented and served by Tom and his staff with panache. This restaurant is elegant and extremely beautiful in every way. It has a well earned reputation now for high standards and fab menu. Thanks again Tom and chef and ur staff for a lovely evening and hope to c u all soon.ps my husband said thanks for the birthday song.

“Great value experience”

Went to sabor on Sunday evening and both the service and food were excellent. Highly recommend it to anyone who would like to try something slightly different. Be warned the booze does not stop flowing!

“Outstanding Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2014

We travelled from Scotland to Sabor on the recommendations of Irish friends and I'm so glad that
we made the trip. You are made to feel special and nothing is too much bother. The food was excellent and this is an experience not just going out for a meal. Tom, Chris and staff were unobtrusive but attentive and as we asked questions about the food and wine (you can have any wine on the list by the glass- which makes for a lovely occasion to match with the food) they were knowledgeable and would have a bit more of a conversation but never overly familiar and let us get on and enjoy the evening. We spent almost 5 hours over the tasting menu and it went by in a flash! Thoroughly recommended.
