“Great value boutique hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

I loved this place. Really well positioned. Funky interior. Good staff. Great clean fun but with personality rooms. The guest only bar was my office some days and private drinks haunt before going to bed at night (even 2am was fine)
One proviso. Insist on a room that does not open onto the "no name bar" downstairs or you won't sleep!

Room Tip: Say No to room three.

We stayed in the penthouse suite and really enjoyed are room. The hotel is above a bar/ night club so it is not for those looking for a quite place to sleep but thats why we went to Dublin. However it's location is perfect right across the street from an awesome pub The Long Hall and makes a good base for seeing the city. If your looking to be close to the Dublin nightlife but not in the middle of Temple Bar or Harcourt area mess than this is the place for you. My only drawback is the shower situation. With 2 bedrooms in the suite it is not very practical to have a glass enclosed bathroom for all to see but it definitely is a conversation starter.

The good things first: the staff is friendly, and the hotel is located quite conveniently, and the rooms are clean.
However, you cannot sleep in them without earplugs, the breakfast is hostel standard, the cleaning personnel seems confused (one day, almost all towels disappeared, another day I had trouble to find my nightgown which had somehow slipped beneath the bed), and the hotel is certainly not for anyone who has trouble carrying his luggage upstairs - there is no lift.
It would have been okay if I had not paid up to 165 € a night, because the management decided to earn some money in the wake of a big event which had the entire town booked out. And they certainly did not reinvest any of that money to give you a 165€ experience, or anything close to it. I may be naive on that front, but I did feel ripped off.

This hotel was pretty much perfect for what we were looking for from our stay in Dublin. A base that was clean and attractive. The hotel itself (or hostel?) was well presented and funky/minimalist on first impression. Our room was cool, too with all the promised amenities. My only complaint would be the size of the room we had. If it had been a metre larger around the bed, this room would've been fantastic, though it was quite squashed and at times a bit annoying. Apart from that we got a lovely French-style breakfast every morning in the Restaurant downstairs and the location was brilliant. We didn't use any public transport at all in Dublin, just walked. Walkable from the main train station, though probably took around 20mins-1/2hr. Wil stay here again but may ask for a larger room. Adjoining bar looked cool but also vv expensive!

I booked Kelly's after reviewing their website describing the 'boutique' nature and great location.
The location is indeed excellent and the cooked breakfast (in a quaint restaurant around the coerner) was fantastic & one of the nicest (& biggest) that we've had. However we found the room to be disappointing on several aspects, there were no wardrobes, while overall the room was sparsely furnished not quiet what we expected for a boutique hotel. Further, it was noisy at night time right up to the early hours of the morning which made it difficult for us to sleep. In summary, the hotel is in a great location with a great breakfast but not as boutique as we expected and not suitable for a young family due to the noise.

Me and my fiancé stayed here in may for my birthday.
Although the room was small it served its purpose and was well located. Everything within walking distance.
The breakfast was a continental one, which you had to go round the corner for at a local restaurant. The staff there were nice and the continental breakfast was very nice.
I read reviews about it being noisy, so was glad earplugs were supplied!! Lol. However it wasn't noisy while we were there. The only thing was the shower! If you were of a larger size you would not of got in it!!
On a whole, the hotel, staff, breakfast and location was great, we would stay there again

if you travel for business or hope to fall sleep soon after midnight, this is the worst choice.
noisy because of the pub music and crowds until late in the night, the best earplugs are completely useless. the problem is not the people having fun in the pubs or the streets but the fact that there is no communication or warning in advance from the staff.

Thanks for your feedback! I am so sorry you had a bad nights sleep. We are striving to improve the quality of sound proofing within the confines of our unique historic building. We have amended our guest check in registration form based on your experience . As our guest we want everyone to have a successful ,enjoyable stay . When booking express a preference for a "quieter " room. We are located in the heart of the Creative Quarter in Dublin City Centre with a great choice of restaurants & bars . Did you know that Hogans Bar beside Kellys Hotel is one of the oldest authentic Irish Pubs dating from 1897? Karin
