“Home from Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2011

My wife and I stayed at Breda's Heeney's Lodge for three nights on 9th, 10th and 11th of august 2011.
Despite earlier reviews we found the house quite easily and Breda welcomed us with a choice of rooms. The Blue Room that we chose is on the ground floor and is beautifully furnished and epuipped with a double and single bed, two comfy armchairs and an en-suite.
The breakfast was plentiful and very scrumpcious with a choice of cereal followed by a 'Full Irish' or pancakes with toast or Brown soda Bread.
We felt very welcome and Breda does all she can to make you comfortable with great success.
It is a very nice 'Home from Home' in pleasant surroundings and very convenient to Donegal Town.
Thank you Breda, we will try to come back soon.

Room Tip: They are all good.

Thanks Breda for a most wonderful stay in Donegal. Your home was so very warm and inviting. You provided a great room, a yummy breakfast and truly a delightful stay at Heeneys Lodge.
The 3 ladies are sending our best wishes to you and your family for a bright future for each of you.

Just returned from a three night stay at The Heeneys Lodge. Breda and her mother could not have been more welcoming whether on the telephone before we arrived or during our stay. Our room was lovely, loads of space, comfortable beds and pillows and very clean. There were also 3 comfy armchairs if you had time to spend in your room! We didnt as there was so much to see and do around the area. The Lodge is only a few minute drive from Donegal town so was handy for the town but was set out in the lovely countryside and was very peaceful. Breakfast would set you up for the whole day and was plentiful in supply my daughter said she will now expect the same at home!
We loved it and would book there again. If you are a wedding guest at Harvey's Point or Lough Eske Castle and can't afford their prices then Heeney's is only just down the road. We had a wedding at the Castle and rang for a taxi to take us there following the church service. It came withing 5 minutes and cost about 7 euros. The castle rang for a taxi after the reception took about 10 mins and still only cost 7 euros and that was after midnight! All in all a lovely weekend.

We stayed at Heeneys 2 weeks ago as we were attending a wedding at Solis Lough Eske Castle.
We had 2 perfect nights at the B+B with Breda and her family helping out in any way they could.
We followed signs for the Castle, then found signs for Heeneys Lodge once we got close. It seemed easy to find.
The room was great, and the peace and quiet in the area was perfect.

We stayed in Heeney's Lodge over New Years and both myself and my partner found it to be a wonderful experience. The rooms were warm and spacious, the beds were very comfortable and the power shower en suite was super. I cant recommend this B&B highly enough. We found Breda to be a very welcoming landlady, very friendly and willing to help in terms of giving us directions. Everything about this B&B exceeded our expectations, plus the full Irish breakfast was easily one of the best we have ever eaten. A really great experience and highly recommended.

Very pleasant and welcoming, outdoor games for children, rooms are nice and quiet
BUT even with the website map and their explainations it was very difficult to find when you don't know... it's a pitty because of the time spent to find them.
They said 5 min from Donegal, and even with the directly (and good road) it was at 15 min... it's not the same

We stayed one night here in august. The room was large and clean. The wooden floors were quite creaky and the sound proofing between rooms wasnt great so the noise from the room next to us did detract from the sleep quality. The biggest down side to this place is finding it. We managed to drive around for a long time before a local drove us to the location. Breakfast was nice with some good options.
