“Great live music, friendly service, warm welcome.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2012

Having been into the Reel Inn several nights in a row, we couldn't have picked a better pub (tried some others around town, and this one really was head & shoulders above). The live music (famously 7 days/week) is great, with anyone who wants to join in being warmly welcomed up to perform. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming to both locals and tourists. The crowd is a nice mix of ages and backgrounds, and anybody would fit in there. It's comfortable and the service is friendly and efficient. This is honestly what a pub should be - no blaring tvs, no dingy corners, no grumpy locals resenting new faces - just a happy place to visit and relax for as long as you've got and always someone to chat to.

“Fine evening of music and Guiness”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2012

Our B&B suggested we head out for music at the Reel Inn while we were in Donegal. The place is very quaint and traditional. There were many other tourists also, but all were very pleasant and we had a great chat with some lovely people from Newzealand. Would go back if I ever get to Donegal again. Since were were staying a block away at the Bridge B&B it worked out very well.

“A great night!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2012

I managed to persuade my not-a-pub-person mum in for a pint and a while of music, and we chose the Reel Inn as it looked inviting from the outside. We arrived at 8.30 in an empty pub and were very sceptical when the proprietor told us music would start at 9. Well, a little past nine the music started - and by then there was a smallish but enthusiastic crowd. A lovely evening with great music and some guest stars from the crowd, very friendly staff and great atmosphere with both local and tourist patrons.

“Local music every night”

Great for traditional Irish music, friendly folks working at the bar, often a packed house.

“Don't miss out on the Reel thing....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2012

Finding this place was like finding a bottle of Perrier after 2 days without water - refreshing, delicious, welcome, good for the body and soul, and you want more straight away. When proprietors John and Denise say that all are welcome, they mean it. Although Traditional music is the heart of it, they, and the local session hosts, have genuine respect for anyone who turns up and wants to play or sing. No sideways looks or sniffy attitudes, just a genuine friendly welcome, and encouragement to get on with it. John is a strong player, with a box that can probably be heard as far away as Sligo, but he plays with subtlety as well as passion, and Denise can sing a fiery Republican song with disarming sweetness. If you are a serious session player, a novice musician, or keen to hear what a true open session sounds like, you wont be disappointed. 7 nights a week, even in winter. Old school - Highly recommended.
