Stayed at this hotel for two nights. I was in a party of ten. We all agreed at was a lovely hotel, well~decorated and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The beds, pillows and duvet were especially comfotable and snug. We heard no noise from traffic.
As in other reviews the only downside was the distance away from Cork centre. We used taxis quite a lot which ate into our spending money a little bit. We only used taxis more regularly as we were only there two days and didn't want to waste any time.
The breakfast was usual hotel fare but good.
I would definitely recommend the Montenotte Hotel to anyone visiting Cork.
Well I'm just back from a three night stay in the Montenotte Hotel and have to say it was fantastic.
My girlfriend and I paid £55 a night for a room that included breakfast and to be honest it felt like a right bargin.
Like others have said the hotel is slightly outside of the city centre which for us took about 15 mins downhill and about 30 mins up a pretty steep hill. I found the walk to be pretty plesant and didn't mind it one bit. In fact it helped save a hangover after a night on the town becase the short walk back to the hotel seemed to do me the world of good.
The rooms were clean and pretty well sized... My one negative about our room was that is was on the ground floor which sat below the level of the car park so we didn't have any view outside. Other than that the room was great. If you can get a room on as high a floor as possible facing the river.
The breakfast was nice and contained a slection of cereal, fruit, bacon, eggs, sausages, black pudding, white pudding, toast, tea coffee and lovely local yogurts. The breakfast area also doubled as the hotel returant and had a great view over Cork and the River Lee.
The hotell bar was as good as they get for me, nice slection of drinks, good staff, good company and great views.
The leisure club was a great way for us to start each day. It was clean, a nice 20 metre pool, sauna, steam room and general gym equipment... I great little bonus.
Well worth a stay.
Oh yeah, I've not posted pictures of the room because the ones already pretty mucg cover it.
This hotel is generally nice, but it is quite far from downtown (20 minutes on foot for me, and I move along smartly). If you're driving, the website directions are awful. The staff is very nice and accommodating: mostly eastern Europeans with a sprinkling of very helpful Irish. The hotel touts its view of downtown Cork, but it's quite off center, so the view is not exceptional. The room I had was fine, but not unusual. One advantage is that Henchy's pub is just down the hill: the quintessential neighborhood pub, with families on Sunday after church watching hurling and Gaelic football. Very nice.
Stayed at Montenotte Hotel in Aug 08. Room was nice size and very clean. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Bar staff could not have been friendlier and staff at breakfast were also very nice.
Reception also assisted with whatever questions or needs that we had. I wouldn't consider this to be a 4 star hotel but it is certainly a good 3 star and the rates are very reasonable.
Bar was very nice with very good views of the city.
I certainly would recommend this hotel.
