Owner description: Fota Wildlife Park is Cork's most visited Tourist Attraction and has been awarded best family day out in Cork and Munster. The Park is set on 70 acres on the scenic Fota Island in the heart of Cork Harbour only 15 minutes from Cork City (top 10 in the best cities to visit in the Lonely Planet guide's 'Best in Travel 2010').The park is not like an ordinary zoo; here you can come face to face with free roaming animals & birds from all parts of the world. So whether it's a kangaroo that hops in front of you or a ring tailed lemur which jumps down from a tree, each visit is sure to bring its own fantastic memories. In addition to the wonderful array of free roaming animals, visitors also have the opportunity to see highly endangered species such as the Rothschild giraffe, European Bison, Lion Tailed Macaque and Scimitar Horned Oryx, most of them without the obstacle of fenced-in exhibits. This is the most spectacular aspect of Fota Wildlife Park, and is the reason you'll want to spend a full day exploring Ireland's Wildest Attraction.

“Great day out for young and old”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

All the animals are roaming freely with open spaces which makes a good change from regular zoos. There is a large variety of exhibits. We have the conservation pass so our family visit several times a year and do not tire of looking at the animals.

“mothers day outing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

lovely day out nice walk around to see all the animals, plenty of parking nice cafe and gift shop, however the price of just about 40 euro for two adults and one four year old was steep, and I do recognise that they have to upkeep the park. Also costs 3 euro for the car park. I think the price would put a lot of people off visiting in this economy

“Great day out for all”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

Fota is a great day out and good value (provided the weather is good). You can bring your own picnic but I must admit there is not much seating on a buy day. Also the selection of food and price is the restaurant is not great for families.

“Just incredible”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

The animals freedom was the most striking feature of the wildlife park. The care and attention to detail provided by the park staff was first class. The train service to the island was also very convenient, stopping just outside the entrance

“Great Fun!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

A visit to Fota on a cold and crisp Sunday! Fulled by coffee from a very clean and well run cafe and our trip around the park began. We saw Zebra, Ostrich, Emu, Deer, Buffalo all running about on open fields, it was great! The range of water fowl was amazing and you can buy a hand full of duck feed in a little dispencer, that was a great laugh as the ducks and geese know where you are going and follow! We saw penquin, beautiful Peacock's up close, great photograph's! Then down to where the monkeys hang out on the islands doing their thing! What laughs we had watching them! And to top all that we met up with the Giraffe, they were stunning with little baby and all. It was a wonderful way to spend a Sunday morning. Fota seems to be loved by the staff that run it. It shows so well done.......
