Stayed for two nights and this was the nicest hotel during our 12 day jaunt through Ireland. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and very modern. We did leave the windows open all night and at times some guests in the parking lot were very loud. Also a bright security light shined directly in the window, so in order the sleep in darkness, the window shades had to be drawn closed, which cut down on the air circulation. Overall a great stay and a short walk to city center Cork. We found shopping and food to be nearby.

I stayed here for three nights with my husband at the end of June. The hotel did not look very impressive from the outside but it was much better inside. The room was clean and spacious with a bath & shower. The bed was comfortable. The only downside was no air con so the room got very hot and sleeping with the window open was made difficult because of the traffic outside.

Breakfast was good, a choice of hot breakfasts and a buffet aswell.
Staff were friendly and helpful.

If you are going to Cork for a break I recommend hiring a car. We went on some breathtaking drives along the coast and up to Klarney where there is a beautiful national park. Also go to kinsale its a really pretty old fishing town, there are lots of restaurants there.

The lancaster lodge is a good hotel only a 5-10 min walk from the centre of Cork and as it has a car park its also a good base if you are wanting to explore further.

Really enjoyed our 3 night stay. The breakfasts were a sumptuous feast, with choice of full Irish, kippers, bagels with smoked salmon & cream cheese, ommlettes + plenty of fruit and cereals.
Bedrooms were modern with comfy bed; only minor point was with no air-con the room was rather hot at night.
No restaurant so used the nearby vegetarian co-op restaurant-tasty food & exceptional value. Recommend the pub over the road (Reidy's vault bar) for a traditional Irish pub with great Beamish & a decent Irish stew.
Would definitely use the Lancaster again if in Cork.

“Lancaster Lodge Cork”

Lancaster Lodge

Apr 30, 2008

I regularly stay in Cork City with work and I found the Lancaster Lodge excellent. It is located less than 5 mins walk from the city centre on the Western Road.

Staff are very courteous and welcoming. The hotel provides free broadband access. The breakfast consists of a buffet of cereals, breads etc and then a wide range from the menu irish breakfast, bagels etc.. The hotel rooms are comfy and nicely decorated. There is also ample car parking spaces on the grounds, parking in Cork City can be a nightmare.

I found the staff exteremly helpful on one occasion in particular when I had to cut my visit short due to family matters.

Lancaster Lodge was very nice -- nicer than it looks on the website -- having recently been renovated. Our rate included a nice breakfast, with fresh baked croissants. The hotel had soap, shower cap, shampoo, and our room had a view of St. Finbarr's Cathedral. In fact, it turned out that we were a very short walk from there. We got up very early the next morning and had time for a walk before breakfast. We were within walking distance of the downtown area, though lots of places were closed, as the day we were there was a bank holiday. We met my nephew and his family at Café de la Paix, which the hotel had suggested for lunch. It was quite pleasant, as we were seated in the sunny room, with a view of the river. We had a relaxed lunch there. Everyone seemed happy with their food, and the service was unhurried. We walked to town and spent a couple of hours in a cozy pub, The Old Oak on Oliver Plunkett Street. We enjoyed dinner at Rossini's Italian restaurant. However, I'm afraid I didn't do it justice -- I left half of it on my plate, as the servings were huge!
