I have just returned from staying at Garnish House for a few days & it always feels like going home, Johanna, Marcel & Michael make you feel so welcome not only on your arrival but during your stay also. I visit Cork a few times during the year & wouldn't consider staying anywhere else, it is more than a B&B & as someone previously said it may cost a little bit extra to stay there but it is definitely worth it excellent value, so Thanks to you all for a wonderful stay & Marcel don't forget to have the coffee ready for when I return in August.

“AMAZING - what a great place to stay”

Garnish House

Jun 2, 2008

My husband and I were on our honeymoon (we visited parts of Ireland and Scotland) and stayed at the Garnish House for 2 nights - May 23 and May 24.

When we arrived, we were greeted with an afternoon tea that left us full and happy for hours...we STILL talk about how good the scones and cakes were. The tea was so good that we asked where we could buy it and took a box home to Canada with us!

Then we were taken to our room - they were so kind to give us an upgrade for our honeymoon and we had a suite all to ourselves with a sitting area and a kitchen. It was far more than we could have expected.

The B&B is in a great location - you are within walking distance of the main areas of the city. We felt really safe in the area and were comfortable with parking our car outside of the Garnish House (parking was included).

The Garnish House really set the bar high for the rest of our trip - we were constantly talking about how great our stay was and how great the food was there all through our trip. I had never stayed in a B&B before and from that point on I decided that from now on when I go to Europe, this was going to be our accomodation of choice.

The price per person is a lot higher than most B&B's (we paid 55 Euros per person) but once you stay there you will see why. They are warm, welcoming and very helpful. The food is very good and you will never starve there...we actually came to a point on the second day where we had to beg them to stop feeding us! Haha.

Hats off to Marcel and the rest of the staff for the wonderful food and service...we can't wait to come back to Cork to stay there again! Thank you for a memorable experience on our honeymoon.

Cheers, Sandy and Anjan, Toronto, Canada

“Fantastic”

Garnish House

This is a fantastic B & B. The owners welcome you, show you to your beautiful room, then tell you to come down for afternoon tea when settled in. The rooms have everything in them , iron ironing board, fan, toiletries and are imaculately clean.
We went down for tea and were greeted with a table set out with cakes, scones, jams and cream and either tea or coffee. Everything is baked fresh and tastes delicious, and if you want more of anything, just ask.
This is the best accomodiation I have stayed in and it even beats the St Davids spa hotel in Cardiff.
If I visit Ireland again this is the only place I would stay in.

We've just returned from a three-week trip including stops in England, Wales and Ireland. We stayed in some rather dreary B and Bs, some that were adequate, and the Garnish House, which appears to be in a class by itself. We were greeted at the door by the gracious Johanna who "convinced" us that we needed some refreshment and brought us a tray laden with freshly baked scones, soda bread, cakes, jams and coffee and tea. A delightful start to a delightful two night stay. The room was comfortable and loaded with "extras" that we weren't finding in other B and Bs - free internet connection, telephones, fresh fruit, a real, live bath tub! Breakfasts are absolutely out of this world - not just the same old Irish fry, but omelets, pancakes, porridge with Bailey's and brown sugar, fresh fruit and yogurt, cheeses. It was almost an embarrassment of riches. Yes, this B and B was the most expensive of any of the others we used during the three-weeks, but it was a charming respite during a whilrlwind tour and very much worth it. We hope to be back when the U.S. dollar goes a little bit further than it does now.

Hats off to the Garnish House!!
