“Four Faced Liar”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

Be sure to climb the tower and ring the bells. Don't forget the ear muffs...it can be really loud. Great for kids.=, but the climb to the very top can be scary.

“Sounds beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013

Climbing up the old stairwell was amazing. We enjoyed playing the bells. We played Happy Birthday for our daughter for all of Cork to hear.
Cool

“The bells are the highlight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2013

When we arrived at St. Anne's, we first looked around the sanctuary. It's not one of the more impressive churches we saw on our trip, but there are some beautiful manuscripts and stained glass windows. We climbed up some stairs to the main event, the Bells of Shandon. There's a book with several selections of music to choose from. There weren't many other visitors that morning so we had time to play several pieces, solos, duets, even a trio. It was great fun. As we continued our ascent through the tower, including climbing over some rafters, we saw the clock movement, and stood next to the bells themselves (visitors are given protective headsets to wear during this part of the tour). Finally we climbed one last set of narrow stone steps to the tower's balcony, which affords a 360 degree view of Cork. While we were enjoying the view, we heard "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina" being played on the bells. We thought that was pretty funny. Fair warning: the church does not have bathroom facilities open to the public. The closest facilities are a block or so away in the Firkin Crane building, so factor that into your visit.
