“Just somewhere to rest our heads”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

Its a Travelodge so I wasn't expecting much. Staff were friendly. The room had a damp smell, wet patch on the carpet, a cracked mirror and a very dusty sofa.We could hear the people in the room above us walking around for most of the night. The bathroom was clean. We were up very early for a flight so I didn't bother bringing this to anyones attention as it did the job for the short time we were there. Very close to the airport.

Stayed with my wife and 3 children in a family room for 3 nights and had no problems. Staff where helpful even when really busy. Kids loved the room and Eddie rockets was excellent for both breakfast and evening meals and snacks. Not as pricey as I expected.
Room was exactly as you would expect of a travelodge and beds where really comfortable.
free wifi is available in Eddie Rockets and just outside which was useful.

Room Tip: Its a travelodge. Don't expect the 5 star accomodation. It is a good nights sleep in a clean and...

We first stayed at Cork Travelodge 10 years ago and were pleased to say it is still excellent. Our room looked newer than some English Travelodges and was very clean. The staff happily supplied us with extra pillows and towels on request. There was no shower gel at reception but we bought some at the garage next door. Yes there are only two power sockets and the TV choice is not great but for the value I am not complaining. Eddie Rocket's was not really to my taste but there is a very nice garden centre with a cafe opposite and the shops at Douglas are a short drive away. The only down side was the noise made by other guests outside as our room looked out on the front of the Travelodge, we also had the smell from Eddie Rocket's wafting in at times so had to close the window on a warm evening.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back may be quieter and rooms at the front also tend to have the smell from Eddie Rocke...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your positive review regarding your recent stay with us!
I am really pleased that even after 10 years you found Travelodge Cork to be excellent – we are trying our best to update all aspects of our hotel.
Currently we are in the process of switching our TV’s over to digital – this will ensure that we have at least 20 TV and radio channels for our guests to enjoy.

On your next visit – please ask for a room at the back! We do not allocate rooms prior to guest arrival so that the guest has an option to choose ground or first floor, front or back facing room.

Kind Regards,
Janis

We did have a bit of a problem finding it because we came from Galway and missed the roundabout approaching from an odd direction it seemed - still by ending up at the airport we soon located it backwards as it were! Nothing bad to say about it and was able to get a 'twin bedded room' - much more comfortable than a 'family room' when you need two beds for two of you! What you would expect of a Travelodge so apart from not being overly impressed with 'Eddie Rockets' though breakfast was adequate - get a deal and visit Cork City easily!

Room Tip: Ask for twin bed if you need two beds as a couple.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking time to write you positive review!
I am glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and eventually found the hotel after travelling from Galway – I know roads can be s bit tricky if you don’t know the area.

In regards to our hotel – if approaching the city from east or north, just follow the signs to the airport. When travelling from west, take the city bypass road N40/N25 – we are located on the Kinsale Road Roundabout.

Kind Regards,
Janis

After my one night stay here, my opinion of the trustworthy Travelodge has not altered. I will mention that Patricia (one of the girls on reception) told me this hotel does not supply shampoo (despite a comment from manger Janis Lazdans below stating the contrary). Also my room only had one plug socket (two if I unplugged the television). Breakfast in Eddie Rocket's was good. Great diner atmosphere. I didn't try the dinner service because I was busy munching my way through the contents of the burger van at Turner's Cross Stadium that evening.

The hotel isn't really near a bus stop but the bus drivers seem to be willing to drop you off closer to the hotel.

Room Tip: Book early!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking time to review your recent stay with us!
I am glad that our hotel met your expectations and I hope to see you again sometime soon!

In regards to shampoo – we normally do have these in stock for our guests, it’s just at the moment we are out of them but should have them back in stock this week.

I hope you enjoyed the game in Turner’s Cross Stadium!

Kind Regards,
Janis

We came here mid June at the start of the high season so I suppose we were expecting a bit of a price hike but felt these rooms a little over priced....however that is my only gripe, the actual rooms themselves are set up nicely I didnt want to get out of bed in the morning the beds were so comfy, big rooms with space to move about and nice big bathroom with ok shower too. Basic set up but thats all we were expecting and we got everything we needed. Eddie rockets breakfasts next door are fantastic!

Room Tip: Not actually in the city centre at all but very close to air port and commuter towns so buses are ve...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking your time to review our hotel – it is always nice to get a positive feedback!
At Travelodge Ireland our rates are yielded according to our occupancy levels – basically the more rooms we have sold, the higher the rate, so the sooner you book your room the less you pay – we always have some promotions running (if you wish to join our mailing list, please contact us at the hotel directly).

I am glad that you enjoyed your stay, mentioning the comfy bed – most of our beds were replaced in 2011 and we get a lot of positive feedback from our customers, especially regular guests who had slept in the old beds prior to that.

Thank you for your Room Tip – yes, we are indeed a little bit out of city centre, but this only means we can provide a large car park to our guests, which is a big problem for most city centre hotels. There is a bus stop approx. 5-10min walk from the hotel with service every 10-15min, costing €1.70 per person each way.

If you would like to discuss this further or require any information, please do not hesitate to contact me directly!

Kind Regards,
Janis Lazdans
