“Good Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

Stayed for one night on a BBD offer. The rooms while dated were clean. The hotel bar was nice, spacious and staff were friendly and helpful.

The restaurant, while kitted out very much like a "breakfast bar" was clean and fresh. The food was fantastic for both dinner and breakfast. The waiting staff were very helpful and friendly and very attentive.

Rooms towards the front of the hotel may have a little extra noise from the main road but with windows closed it's nothing too distracting.

While the hotel looks decent, the rooms reminded me of the 60‘s era communist block hotels. The bathroom is extremely old style, the hot/cold water taps in the bathtub barely work. Also, the pool is off site, requires bathing caps and closes at 8am... There is no A/C in the rooms, which made our room an unbearable jungle for the 2 nights we stayed. A car-alarm went off at 4am and the constant noise from a busy highway did not help having a restful sleep either... B&B, oh how I long for thee...

Lovely hotel, very clean and comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful during our stay. We ate in the bar and the food and service couldn't be better. I would return and I'm happy to recommend to others.

Booked this as a last minute getaway. Lovely hotel, lovely staff, great breakfast and a massive bed. Wonderful views over the River Lee. Would definitely recommend the hotel but the only drawback is that unless you have the car with you, you will pay a lot for taxis and you will never be charged the same price twice !!!!

Room Tip: Stayed on 4th for overlooking the river. Great view

Overal it was a good visit, the room was clean, if a little jaded. The facilites were adequete in the room, it would benefit from AC and a more powerful shower. The staff were friendly and helpful. There was a mix-up with my initial booking, but once I emailed them my confirmation email, they were so apologetic and helpful.
The bar, while it has some good views, leaves a lot to be desired from a service point of view. There was no atmosphere there either.
Due to the location, 4 Km from city centre, the saving over city centre hotels was wiped out due to the cost of Taxis to & from the centre. Bear this in mind when booking this hotel.

Room Tip: If you can, get a room that faces away from the road. Without AC, you will need to leave your window...

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for taking the time to post a review of our hotel.

I am delighted that overall you enjoyed your stay and that our staff friendliness gave such great impression. I am slightly disappointed though in regards to your comments about our Lounge service.

I believe that the level of service at our Lounge Bar is one of the strongest features of our property; the quality of the food combined with friendly and efficient service are often highlighted by our customers; however if on this occasion we did not meet your expectations I sincerely apologize, and I would welcome the opportunity to discuss your comments in more details, so that we can improve on our shortcomings.

Once again I thank you for your comments and I would be delighted to have the opportunity to welcoming you back in the near future.

Yours sincerely,

Juan Pablo Trossero

stayed here on business the first week in july 2013.
the hotel is very modern looking outside and in, for me i like something a bit more cosy , the bar area had quite a cold open feeling, but hey, each to his own.
Cork city centre is about a 10 minute taxi ride for around 10 euros where there are plenty of bars and restraunts and some particularly good Chinese's . the hotel is rated as 4 star but looking at the interior of my bathroom were the wood is starting to look tired i would put it as a 3 star plus. but after my little nit pick all in all the food was very good and reasonably priced and the staff very friendly and helpful and the service good .

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for taking the time to post such a wonderful review on Tripadvisor.

We are thrilled that you had such a memorable stay with us. It was such pleasure reading your comments from beginning to end, and I can assure you that your comments have been passed to our team.

Our Head Chef Gary Burke is delighted that you rated his cuisine in such high regards. Our renown Watermarq Restaurant offers a wonderful range of Irish and Continental dishes, though without the 5 star prices.

As per our suites, they are indeed extremely luxurious, and unlike other hotels they are very much affordable as they can be booked for only €40.00 extra supplement from the standard rooms.

I truly hope to welcoming you back to celebrate your next birthday or even sooner, and if I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Yours sincerely,

Juan Pablo Trossero

Booked a weekend away for my wifes 30th birthday so Mr and Mrs and our toddler arrived Sunday just gone for 2 nights in a junior suite. IF thats a junior suite I can only imagine what the presidential ones must be like! A jacuzzi the size of a small room! A fantastic bedroom, a huge bed. Plasma screen tele, mini fridge, seperate walk in dressing room etc etc
It was fantastic. It was so comfortable.

There is a kiddies play room which our little fella loved and he made a few friends!

The staff were extremely helpful from start to finish, both desk and floor staff. The food in Watermarq resturant was Manor-House quality. The chef is to be commended for his/her skills. Delicious.

I really cant say enough about this hotel, it was a fantastic stay and we hope to return. Well done all involved.

Room Tip: The Junior Suites are to a very high standard and worth the extra few bob for the jacuzzi alone!
