“Very friendly boutique type hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2011

6 of us travelled over to Cork for a long weekend and stayed at this very nice hotel, although old it has been modernised, except for the leisure facilities which isnt actually in the hotel but a good walk away up quite a steep hill within the grounds. The pool is quiet old and you are required to wear swimming caps which we didnt know about , also the lockers didnt lock. One the whole thought we really enjoyed our stay the food was good in the hotel bar and the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is a little outside the city centre (around 15 euro in a taxi depending on the time of day/night)) The taxi drivers were also very friendly, and I would say it is too far too walk in to the centre of Cork although a few of our party did it, this would take about 40-50 minutes. The buffet breakfasts were really good value!

stayed there for a conference, food and drink prices are too expensive,
payed for the room and was told breakfast was 12 euro extra, way too expensive for breakfast,
most of hotels in cork are doing the same, charging extra for breakfast, bit of a rip off, along with bar prices rip off too,
Staff nice and friendly
service at the bar was very slow

The food in the restaurant was underwhelming and the service in the bar was poor. The swimming pool for the hotel is in a small dingy lesiure centre which is a good 10 minute walk up a very steep hill. The shower in our room was a disaster - a trickle of water which was never hot enough in a wet room tht stayed wet for the whole day. Overall a poor experience

Room Tip: Avoid the swimming pool!

Dont drink at the hotel if you need to get into town fast as the hotel is a bit outside the city but excellent hotel otherwise really can be a bit noisy if window is open as its on the main road into cork city from dublin and waterford

I stayed for one night on a business trip, the hotel was clean, nice staff and comfortable rooms. Great hotel for business, short taxi ride to the centre for leisure visits.
Good free parking

We arrived to the Silver Springs hotel on good Friday and were spending two nights there. Its a good location for accessing West cork which we did on both day. The breakfast was excellent - I had fresh place one morning and fresh kippers the next which were excellent. The rooms were nice and quiet.

The staff were excellent and the easter eggs to the room on Saturday night was a lovely touch.
