“Touch of class in Cork”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2011 via mobile

I've stayed here twice now, my budget normally only gets me into the Gresham which is fine but the Imperial is a really nice place to stay. It looks the part, the bar is busy and I got some nice bar food. Service was good. Its very Central, behind it is the english market and Some great bars. I'd definitely recommend it for a night in this great city.

Right in the heart of the city, close to the English market and loads of shopping and restaurants.Always a buzz in the hotel and while it's layout can be confusing I would recommend the Imperial as a friendly and lively place to stay in Cork

hotel was busy on our arrival as there was a wedding on - i asked specifically for a room away from the wedding and was told that was no problem. On entering the room I was taken aback at how small it was and having stayed here before, knew most of the rooms were bigger than this. I rang reception and they were so nice, and didnt make me feel embarrassed at all at requesting a room change - not something i had ever done before. They changed my keys and ramg me shortly after to make sure the room was okay. This is a well located hotel with a lovely foyer and lounge area. We were really impressed with the staff and customer service and based on this alone we will definitely be back!

Our wedding reception at the Imperial Hotel in September 2011 was a dream come true. We had stayed many times at the Imperial Hotel before for weekend breaks so we knew about the high standard of dining and the traditional charm of the hotel that you simply do not get with modern hotels. However, the staff of the Imperial Hotel excelled themselves for our wedding.
The hotel itself looked magnificent on the day - from the reception area beside the bar to the dining room itself which looked absolutely splendid. Joe, Fionnuala and all the other staff went out of their way to make sure that we had everything that we could wish for. The food was fantastic and the service was second to none. Our stay in the Penthouse Suite that night was the icing on the cake.
We would highly recommend the Imperial Hotel to anyone. Our wedding was a dream come true and we will definitely be back for more weekend breaks at the Imperial.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back of the hotel can be a little noisy - but this is the nature of a city centre l...

We were here for 2 nights in early October as part of a group tour. Our room was small. The water is very hot. Be careful. Free wifi. Good food in the restaurant.

This is our second stay at the hotel, and we had a wonderful time, which comes as no surprise!
The staff is always ever so nice and helpful, may it be at the reception, bar or restaurant. We were greeted very warmly and were given help with our luggage without even asking for it.
We had dinner on the night of our arrival and the food was wondefully presented and just delicious! Service was also prompt despite the business of the restaurant.
I'll go more in details for people who have not stayed at the hotel before. The Imperial is an old hotel and has that lovely victorian feel about it. It is a very nicely and graciously decorated and has been renovated recently so is equipped with all conveniences one would expect from a 4-star.
The entrance hall and cafe are especially beautiful as they have been preserved in the fashion of the time they were built.
Rooms are very spacious, equipped with plasma screen, tea & coffee making facilities and lovely comfy beds!
The hotel itself is located just off the main street (Patrick St), but in the "bank and insurance district" (if one could call it that), and it is therefore very quiet at night, while being just minutes from Shopping Street, cinemas and the Opera House.
The hotel also has a Spa, which is just as great as the hotel itself.
As far as the breakfast goes, it is very varied (self-service). You will find muffins, scones, croissants, yoghurts, cereals, delicatessen, fishcakes, fruit salad, toasts, various breads and of course the traditional Irish breakfast! Just lovely!
My husband and I can't praise the hotel highly enough and will surely be back.

The Imperial was not our first choice. Our first choice had double booked. They then sent our booking on to the Imperial. A very old world feel greets you at the Imperial. Right in the centre of town, we felt the pace slow as we walked in the doors. The staff were fantastic, rooms good and one of the nicest meals in Ireland. What we missed out on at the original hotel was made up with interest. The only down side was the car park which is 500 or so metres away but in not the nicest part of town. We would not think of getting the car after dark.
All in all a lovely place.
