“I regularly eat here and keep coming back - that's the highest praise I can give.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2013

I pass the viaduct a lot on my way to/from work and as I work day/night shifts it's often easier to call in here and get food than cook and eat late when I get home.

Staff:
I've always found the staff to go above & beyond normal staff - to the point that they learn your name once you've been in once or twice. They manage to balance being attentive without being annoying which is another major plus in my book.

Food:
The food is well cooked and if you want it presented a certain way, eg sauce on the side, half&half mash & chips, they will do their best to help. Of course it helps if you exercise a bit of common sense - if it's busy there is only so much attention they can dedicate to you without leaving the other customers hanging.

Seating:
Loads, there is the main bar seating plus two off side seating areas, all are in good condition - not dirty or torn, and easily accessible. I'm actually going to bring a friend of mine who is in a wheelchair out here some night as a test, I think it would be one of the easier restaurants for him to use as there is excellent areas to get out of the car, a good ramp, wide doors to enter and then plenty of space between tables so he can wheel to the table easily and then not have people bumping off his wheelchair as he eats

Extras:
The water & cordial mix is free and they top it up as needed, you can get a top-up of coffee as well which is very rare but extremely welcome. Most management don't allow this which to my eyes is a huge plus for the Viaduct's management, they take a short term hit in order to win my repeat business - and it is repeat business. In 6 months I've eaten here over 30+ times, I haven't eaten in as many restaurants around Cork combined in the same period.
There is usually a selection of papers during the day & evening so you can relax while waiting for your food.
The TVs are tuned to different channels around the bar so you aren't stuck with watching one show but the volume is set low so it doesn't interfere with the people not looking at that TV.

I really can't give the Viaduct a high enough rating, I suppose the fact that there is usually a manager plus 5-8 wait staff on duty EVERY time I've gone in and they are always flat out is the best testimonial I can give, they must have a constant 40-50 person flow of customers in there and that many people can't be wrong

“Great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

Great food, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Service was fast and the portions were plentiful. It can look very busy from the outside, but it is large with plenty of tables on the inside. Once you step in the door, the staff will find you a table.

“A Lunch Time Wonder”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

In the shadow of the old (Now disused) West Cork railway Viaduct. You'll get a hearty carvery lunch. Ideal stop if you're travelling to West Cork via Bandon. It's on the outskirts of the city beyond traffic jams.

“Great food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013 via mobile

The viaduct is a great spot for a good dinner that is tasty, value and have a great selection. It is always full which in itself is testament to the place. Free dilute and water for kids which is a bonus as well . I have returned several times and will continue to do so ..
