“Great place to stay to visit Blarney Castle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013

Although, for some people's taste, this hotel is probably in need of a bit of a refurb, value for money this hotel was spot on, for us. The room was comfortable which is what we needed as we had been travelling all day. Everything we wanted to see was in easy walking distance, which as a 'mature age' couple is important to us. We like to park the hire car and then walk after driving most of the day. The breakfast and morning tea after a trip to kiss the Blarney Stone, in the adjacent café, the following morning, was yummy and we thought the price was average. It was fun to wander around the town in the evening. We would stay here again.

We booked this hotel for a weekend when our son was graduating from University College Cork. We arrived at the hotel and we were very warmly greeted by the receptionist. The hotel is situated on it's own ground which is also occupied by a bar, a shop and a cafe, all owned by Blarney Woollen Mills. The hotel is very nice with clean attractive rooms, free wi fi and parking on site. The breakfast is served next door in the cafe/shop and takes a little getting sed to. The staff are very good and the breakfast is adequate and ample. Christy's Bar on site is very good with good pub food, which is quite reasonabl priced. The Woolen Mills shop is next door and it is advertised as the largest Irish shop in the world. When we visited there was a great sale on and prices were good. Across the road there is a fantastic bar with music at the weekends, The Muskerry Arms. We will be back to the Blarney Woolen Mills Hotel, great place. If I were very critical of the room, the large windows need to be replaced as they are old and draughty.

We stayed here on a dealrush.com deal and checked out the web price which was alot higher,i wouldnt pay the web price as it is a average hotel, yes in a nice location with the castle within walking distance but hotel needs a refurb.rooms are nice ,clean and spacious .we also found it strange that you ate breakfast in the cafe located next to the hotel and shop,we found that the cafe definately lacked atmosphere, some staff were very pleasent, saying good morning etc ,where as others totally ignored you.the bar was located beyound the cafe so when we brought our drink to the room we were actually walking through the carpark to get to the hotel entrance .

Room Tip: first floor was quiet

This is not a cookie cutter hotel. As its name suggests, it is a former woolen mill that has been wonderfully transformed into a beautiful hotel. The rooms were comfortable. The reception desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Our breakfast server was really great--and there was lots of variety to choose from. Christie's was a very handy choice for dinner. And it was convenient to be able to walk over to the Castle and Gardens--everybody in our group could spend as much or as little time there as they chose.

Myself, my daughter and 18 month old grandson have recently returned from a 4 night break at the Blarney Woollen Mills Hotel. It is really lovely, the people are so friendly and the rooms are really nice. The bed was so comfy which is unusual. The shower was amazing. There were fresh towels every day, the staff made the bed and my grandsons travel cot and hovered the rooms every day.
Really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be staying there again!

Room Tip: We had a double room with a travel cot it overlooked the back of the hotel which was fine no view th...
