“Closest to Blarney Castle: Wonderful Staff & Room & Meals”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

Hotel is located at the southeast corner of the central square of Blarney (N51 55.935 W8 34.031) just across the street from the drive leading to the entrance gate of Blarney Castle. The Blarney Woolen Mill shops are less than 5 minutes walk as well. Our room was spacious and overlooked the square. Bed was comfortable and afforded a fine night's sleep. Breakfast was a highlight: a choice of cereal, yoghurt 'sunday', or porridge followed by a choice of omelet, smoked salmon/eggs, smoked haddock & spinach/eggs, full Irish breakfast as well as other selections. All wonderfully prepared and served from 8:30 am til 11:30 am allowing one to sleep in! We stayed here for 4 nights and ate dinner here each night. We enjoyed the pepper steak, meatballs w/tagliatle, onion soup, smoked salmon sandwiches, quiche Lorraine, cod, lemon sole, chicken quesadilla: again, all prepared excellently! And, of course, Guiness! We ate in the pub section which is popular with the locals. The staff was friendly and took special care of us. There was on site parking in the back of the hotel for guests. WiFi connection was available in our room and the large flat screen TV allowed us to connect our computer via HDMI. The hotel appears to have been in business a long time and has been kept in tip-top condition: a painter was working outside all 4 days we were there.

Room Tip: We had room 28 on the top floor - very large and had 2 dormer windows overlooking the square. This...

The Blarney castle hotel is great. The prices are very reasonable and the food is very good. the staff are very attentive and go out of their way to help you. This is the thrid time that I have stayed at this hotel and if I was going anywhere in Cork I would use here as a base. The hotel only has 13 rooms. These are clean and very large.
The hotel is attached to a local pub, that has music most nights

We loved our stay at this hotel. Old world feeling and the best staff. Very friendly and helpful when we checked in, and made us feel like one of the family. The rooms were clean and very comfortable and at a great price. Location is fantastic, could walk to everything we wanted to see. Breakfast was tasty and made to order. Wish we could have stayed longer.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel The staff who were there for our check-in (Grace and Claire) were lovely, really friendly and made us feel right at home.

The hotel was clean, rooms were comfortable and the price was great. Only wish we could have stayed for longer!

I recently stayed for 4 nights at the Blarney Castle Hotel. It is a small, family run business right on the Green with a very atmospheric bar and old-fashioned feeling to it in the best sense. Very friendly owners and staff and well-appointed rooms with very comfy beds. Nothing was too much trouble and I can only say that it is the friendliest hotel in Cork. I strongly recommend it if you are visiting Blarney and environs - a good hotel makes such a difference to a holiday and the Blarney Castle Hotel - or 'Johnny's' as it is known locally - is a real little gem.

Made to feel welcome from the moment we walked in.The room was very comfortable. We had so much choice for breakfast, and this was cooked to order. The evening meals were worth staying at the hotel for, all very tasty.
The staff were all friendly and helpful and they really wanted us to enjoy Ireland. We arrived the evening when local music and dance was at the Hotel so of course we joined in and really enjoyed
ourselves. The local people we met in the bar were so friendly.

What a lovely hotel is the Blarney Castle Hotel. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more friendly than they were; our room was spacious and we had a view of the town's park and breakfast was fresh and done to order which is how we like it. We came to Blarney to attend a function which also happened to be held at the hotel and it was a wonderful evening of friends, food and drink.
Blarney is a sweet & quaint village with loads on offer i.e.The Blarney Castle & Grounds as well as the Blarney Woolen Mills; plus you are only 15 min. outside of Cork City. Great for a weekend away for two or with the family.

Room Tip: I guess if any tip is really asked for; for a quieter room, ask for the backside of the hotel instea...
