“Outstanding!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013

My girlfriend and I went for a meal on Saturday evening last and had a great experience. We had crab cakes and the game pie to start with pork belly and black sole for main course. It was definitely one of the best meals we've had, the atmosphere was perfect and the staff were a pleasure to deal with. Special praise goes to to Eoin, Shane and Breda/Brenda who were very attentive, helpful and naturally good at their jobs. Can’t wait to go back!

“An Outstanding Food Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

I brought my Fiance to dinner at The Cloister for her birthday. What followed was one of the best meals I have ever had at a restaurant. Delightful Crab Cakes and Refined Game Pie for us to start. It was fabulous - the game pie was a wholesome flavoursome course with rich tastes, nice chunks of game and venison, plus a gravy sauce that had bold flavours without being over powering. The main course, simply put, was one of the greatest pieces of beef I have ever had. We both had the Braised Beef Cheek which if we had seen on a menu would have hesitated to get. But the waiter highly recommended it from the restaurants specials list. So we went for it. His praise of the dish was an under sell. What followed was a piece of beef that literally fell apart on the touch of our forks. It was a taste experience with a cut of beef we had never tried before and it will be something we'll be looking for again if we go to other restaurants. As a journalist for a reputable radio show I know that chefs are experimenting with different cuts of meat in order to introduce new culinary flavours onto the menu's of prospective customers. And this was an example of how to do that in the best possible way.

We also had desert, bread and butter pudding and pavlova, which was also great. Service was great and the Dungarvan Craft Beer went nicely with the dinner.

As you may have guessed I highly recommend The Cloister Restaurant. Fabulous food in lovely surroundings. You rarely find restaurant which surpasses your high expectations. We Found it.

“Cloister Restaurant, Ennis, Co. Clare, Ireland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

This was a very tasty meal (soup of the day - pea; followed by an hamburger - the "Cloister Burger") and good value for money considering the quality of the product. I found the chips (fries) particularly good. Not the most fancy items on the menu but well produced. Will definitely try something posher next time.

The staff were both welcoming and efficient.

If I want a good soup and burger in Ennis again I'll come straight here. Nice one!

“Excellent food and service - innovative menu”

Friendly, well organised and service which couldn't be faulted. Food was incredible - especially the seafood chowder and the sautéed mushrooms on focaccia with truffle cream sauce. Great atmosphere too.
