My boyfriend and I were in search of a restaurant for the Saturday evening of our trip and we came across the Ennis Gourmet Store. It doesn't have the look of a restaurant but they had tapas on their menu so we enquired. A very nice gentleman came out to greet us and brought us inside to show us their options. We were planning on going back to our hotel and then returning (by taxi) into Ennis town. There is a very friendly lady and gentleman running the Store and they said sure come back before 7.30 and we'll have something for you.
It was such a gem we couldn't resist! We arrived before 7.30 and were seated. The food was such good value and one of the proprietors, David, served us. He recommended the large tapas at €18 and said that was plenty which it was. We both had a large glass of Merlot and settled in. A group of locals were also in for a drink that evening so there was a lovely buzz and such a friendly atmosphere. David asked where we were from (Dublin and Meath) and he knew places and people from both. He also wrote us a list of local pubs which we would enjoy, sort of off the beaten track.
The food and wine were such good value and they have great produce for sale. Thank you Anne and David for a lovely welcome, the informality of it made our evening!
