If you have time, take the drive. Be aware the trail is poorly sign posted so a few incorrect turns will be encountered.
Spectacular geological/rock formations can be seen in a large number of locations along the way.

We rented a car and drove around The Burren. There are so many things to see. Caves, Castles, Nature, etc....We had poor weather and we still enjoyed ourselves. Good to do the Cliffs of Moher and The Burren on the same day. Take you time and enjoy
It was a unique experience. I was grateful our driver Allen of McComb's Tours let us off the coach to take pictures. I would've liked to spend more time here.
The scenery, the geology, the rock walls all simply stunning. A very different area to see. On the drive you can see ring forts, an ancient burial site, castle and caves.
The area from Kinvarra to Doolin is labelled as The Burren, and most hiking trails lead over some part of it. But there are apparently some significant sights to trek, which require planning and time.
The landscape is barren and flat, but the flora and fauna is quite unique and worth the experience. The variety of sheep scattered along the trails make for a pleasant surprise.
I researched about the Burren before we took our family trip, but the photos of the area were just the tip of the iceberg. The limestone hills were immense and the coastal areas were amazing to see. The area around Black Head is a must see! From Doolin, drive northeast to Ballyvaughan on the Corkscrew Hill you will see a landscape that is uncommon and startling to see. The drive from Ballyvaughan west towards Black Head is also stunning. Continue south back towards Doolin and you will see many turn-off points that will put you over the cliffs looking out to the Atlantic. If I return to Ireland this area is one that I will frequent for two days or more.
