The Cliffs of Moher are a natural wonder, beautiful, wild and totally awe inspiring.
The Cliffs are located on the west coast of Ireland in Co Clare, a stones throw from Ennistymon and Lehinch.
My Wife and I decided on a weekend break up in Co Clare and one of the attractions that she was desperate to show me was the Cliffs of Moher. Having viewed the website for the cliffs I was really looking forward to seeing natural beauty and coastal wildlife.
The cliffs are sign posted, very easy to find. Simply park up at the Cliffs parking facility which costs around 6 euro each I think. (we booked online before hand and got it cheaper).
It was a very windy day, very cold and a little rainy.
Built into the cliffs is a visitors center with a gift shop, cafe and an eatery. In addition there is the Atlantic Edge exhibition. This features interactive IT facilities and large screens. In one of the rooms there is a huge projected screen giving you a birds eye view of the land and marine life around the area. It was amazing... very life like!
Even though it was windy, the walk up to the cliffs and along the cliff edge was breath taking. I can actually say, its one of the most amazing natural wonders I have ever seen.
The view was amazing, the Atlantic ocean is wild, ferocious and yet peaceful.
The coastal wildlife is fascinating along with the colony of Puffins, just beautiful.
I would not hesitate to visit the Cliffs at any time of the year but I am certainly looking forward to coming back in the summer.
After taking around 100 photos, we picked up a few gifts from the shop. A tshirt and the obligatory fridge magnet that we get everywhere we go.
ENJOY... I did!
