We are sorry that you found the Town Boat Trip expensive at £16 for a party of 2 adults and 4 children. There's not much you can get these days for £4 per adult and £2 per child.

“My Great Week End”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

It was really brilliant to just get away from everything. I enjoyed our trip on the Union Canal over the Avon ViaDuct but declinde the offer to go outside and enjoy the view. I know I missed an experience but I just hadn't the nerve to walk on the viaduct.

“Fantastic trip!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012 via mobile

We recently took a trip on the canal and it really was a fantastic way to spend an afternoon. The volunteers who crewed the boat were knowledgeable, enthusiastic and made the trip a lot of fun! We were taken on one of the original canal boats which was in great condition and definitely looked the part! The whole experience was well organised and thought out. We were able to arrange the trip in advance and communication with the centre was quick and easy. We had a brilliant time and would highly recommend the experience. We will definitely go back again.

“Union Canal mooring at Linlithgow”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2012

Narrow boats come through the Canal Centre at Linlithgow. They can tie up and visit the splendid tearoom and look down on the Linlithgow Palace to the north. Hire a boat from there and take a trip along the canal to the Avon Aqueduct.

“A must see in Linlithgow”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

This review is based on a visit to the Canal Centre Cafe and Museum only.
Currently walking the Union Canal and the Canal Centre at Linlithgow is a natural break point along the tow-path. Lots of colourful barges and boats to occupy the mind and a very welcoming, comfortable cafe right when you need one.
The staff are volunteers and very friendly and welcoming. Good selction of food and drinks available.
There is also a canal museum which gives a very full account of the construction and history of the canal's life.
You can go on a barge trip or hire one yourself for a half day or full day, whichever takes your fancy.
A very pleasant break along the way.
