“Secluded”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

The Hermit cell is quite hard to find, but it is a great place once you find it but maybe not the best place to stay :). Very enjoyable walk on Iona.

“St Oran's Cemetery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

well worth the time and the wandering around to look at the early kings and others buried there. Quiet and peaceful, just a stone's throw from Iona Abbey, so it's not out of the way to visit.

“Interesting history and worth visiting to see John Smith's grave”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2012

It is worth reading about the cemetery before visiting as it has an unusual history (apparently St Oran was buried alive here to consecrate the ground!). We also wanted to visit it because we knew John Smith (leader of the Labour Party when he died suddenly in his 50's) had been buried here - his gravestone is easy to find and is worth viewing.

“Very moving experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2012

The simplicity of this cemetery does not convey the very long continuum of this place. Being able to see some of the more ancient stones preserved in the museum makes the experience complete. It would be nice to receive a list of all those thought to be buried there with the admission ticket.
