“lovely weekend at the rob roy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

my husband and i just spent the weekend at the rob roy, we booked for the sat nite dinner dance. we had a great time, food was lovely ,band were great, all staff nice and friendly, room basic but clean and warm, just what u would expect for a 2 star hotel.
buffet breakfast was lovely,
we were lucky to
be there on a beautifull autum sunny day, and the scenery was spectacular, the receptionist recomended some nice walk from the village.
we found the rob roy great value for money, and would recomend the dinner dance to anyone, the band were very good, played something for everyone and the dance floor was full all night, drinks reasonabley priced.

Room Tip: rooms are basic, but i believe you can upgrade if thats what u like, but we just went to the room to...

We have been visiting the Rob Roy Hotel for the past thirty two years and one of the reasons we will return time and time again is the amazing great value of their Dinner Dance and overnight stay events which occur every Saturday into Sunday. The extremely warm welcome we always receive from the friendly staff (especially the women at reception) is second to none and we are made to feel that nothing is too much bother to them throughout our stay at the Rob Roy Hotel.
If you are looking for a fun-filled evening out on a Saturday night with overnight accommodation set amidst the most beautiful of countryside then it has got to be the Rob Roy Hotel every time.
We intend to return to this amazing value event as often as we can manage and look forward to jiving along with the incredible entertainment of "Back to Basics" who are a "blast from the past" and never disappoint with their amazing routines. The whole experience is worth giving a try and brings "life into living" for us both. Cheers to one and all from the Crazy Scottish Couple who will arrange to see you sometime very soon - until then we send our very best wishes always.

Room Tip: Any double room on adjoining ground floor level.

Loved our time at this Hotel! The area is beautiful!
The Hotel was staffed with very pleasant, kind people!
The entertainment was of good quality with clever performers who sang and played their instruments well.
The rooms were lovely and warm and really clean! Tea & coffee was provided and re-stocked throughout our stay! There was constant hot water and the radiators could be controlled. Rooms very pleasant with nice furniture looking fresh and clean! Always clean towels available if wanted. The food was excellent, delicious and plentiful! The sweets were very nice and the starters tasty. Good quality ingredients used. You must try the haggis!
The dining room was a little cold compared with the other rooms, but very comfortable and tables beautifully set with all you needed. There was not many sauces available, but the food was so tasty you did not even need them. Service was good too with pleasant, helpful waiters and waitresses. Nice cup of coffee and tea! Seating in bars was comfortable and clean.
All in all excellent - the only thing that let it down a little was the price of the drinks in the bar, but even that did not spoil the atmosphere which was lovely!
Thank you to all the staff who work very hard with care & commitment!
Well Done!

Room Tip: All the rooms are quiet and peaceful! If you have difficulty walking there is a lift for the top fl...

We booked a midweek break at the Rob Roy Hotel in Aberfoyle and were a wee bit concerned that at £99 for 4 nights Dinner, Bed and Breakfast we would be going to a cheap hotel with facilities and service to match the price.
How wrong we were.
Our double room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. Tea and coffee were provided and replenished every day. Another bonus was that with the accommodation in a seperate block - joined by a covered walkway - no noise from the bar or function room disturbs any guest who needs an early night!!
The food was of a very high quality with good choice at every meal.
Breakfast started with a buffet style for cereals, porrige and fruir juices and was rounded off with a cooked breakfast ranging from eggs on toast to a full Scottish Breakfast. Plenty of toast tea and coffee.
Dinner menues were varied and catered for all tastes. Roasts, steak pie, fish dishes, pasta etc etc.
While all staff were pleasant and helpful from Reception, houskeeping bar and restaurant, we make no apology for giving a special mention to our two waiters in the Tartan Room - Chem and Margaret looked after us at every meal and were polite, helpful and attentive.
A great break and one we will repeat.

Room Tip: Upper floor has best views

Just returned from this hotel. I am a single traveller and was given a good size double room. Room & en suite very clean with lovely hot water instantly. Efficient radiators thermostatically controlled at any time of day or night. Food ok with large portions of excellently cooked meat but potato portions meagre and small portions of very overcooked vegs. Staff helpful and friendly. Exterior, away from main entrance, was neglected which was a shame. Just over a mile walk along a tarmac path into Aberfoyle, a nice village with variety of shops & touristy places. I would happily go to this hotel again.

Room Tip: Some rooms have a Very Long Walk along corridors to reach reception/dinning/bar areas.
