“badest place to treat chauffer guide either food or the accomadation”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

when we visited last time there, for take away breakfast simply they given 2pcs of bread, banana n smaller pcs of pineapple.n even no water bottle or the juice pack.its suppose to given by the other hotels for the take away breakfast.
other worst thing was when we go to the check out the bag boy didnt put the bag in to the car n when chauffer ask him to do the manager jessie dias shouted at chauffer in badest wayeven by threatening to his life too.
therefor who ever willing to visit this place should consider this matter bcs chauffer has to drive u through the site with peace full mind n his mind should b clear with out any threaten.the management is poor of experience too.
just think twice before u select this place.

Hi Sudath, I remember you, your guests stayed with us for three nights and wrote a very nice review on our guests comments book, but they never complained about any breakfast pack, you are complaining about a bag boy, we don't have bag boys working for us, While having my breakfast I saw the room attendant loading the baggage into the boot of your car and left one small bag on the ground near by the car where you was standing, (as you will know some time the guest carry the light luggage with them in the vehicle) and ran up to the room to check weather the guests have forgetfully left any thing in the room, as this have happened many times before, then you shouted at me asking as to who is going to load this bag in very bad language telling me that you are a chauffeur guide and you don't carry bags, but while I was about to come and put it into the car the guest apologized to me and took it him self, my friend please don't tell me about peace of mind and experience I like to remind you in the late 70s and early 80s I my self also drove tourists in the then Peugeot 404 & 504 cars, but never cried for a piece of bread or threaten the staff or manager in the hotel the guests stayed, I have been in the hotel management for the last 31 years working right round the country and met hundreds of drivers, and even some times I have meals with them, any way I think this is the reason that most of the boutique hotels and villas don't give accommodation and meals to drivers, also I wish to remind you that i didn't threaten you, you threaten me and the staff I have got the telephone number you called and threaten me, and we don't give alcohol or bites to drivers free of charge, you are welcome to bring guests or your family to the hotel I have at any time I have nothing against you.

What a find! we had been a bit worried that it was quite a drive up into the cultural triangle, but it was more than worth the extra mileage, to have stayed here. We were made very welcome, and felt privileged to have been visiting while the english owner was there. Extreemly comfortable, and a very interesting place to stay, lots to see and learn about, as it is a working 'pepper' estate, and they are either already growing or are in the process of growing anything that will grow in Sri Lanka, to try and make it self 'self contained' on the food front. Chickens too. They can help organise any excursions you may want to make, and give helpful advice if you are not sure where to go or what to do. Try a visit to the huge trade vegetable and fruit market in Dambulla, massive and full of all sorts of exotic veggies you have never heard or let alone recognised. And I won't even go into how beautiful the pool is, in front of the 'secondary' villa, which can be taken as a whole, with views to die for. Or the prospect of the third villa, on a higher ridge, which has just been started, with even more spectacular views. You won't want to go home.

Room Tip: all are great, with outside showers. AND no mosquitos !!

Discretely nestled in a plantation of lush vegetation including pepper, vanilla and a variety of other plants, Jim's Farm Villas is accessed via a paddy field, then up a narrow winding lane. Not easy to find but what a discovery. The eponymous 'Jim' is the late father of the owner, an affable Englishman who named the farm after his father, a former farmer from Suffolk. It's evident that Kevin has a vision (reminded me of Isak Dinesen's 'I had a a farm in Africa') and we, the guests are drawn into his enthusiasm and excitement as either he, or his more than capable manager Jesse, take us round the plantation pointing out different crops and the farm's plans for the future. When Kevin took over the plantation the buildings were in complete disrepair and, in addition to a luxury hilltop villa which he built originally as a holiday home and now makes the perfect family let, there is a spacious, airy and strikingly tasteful plantation house, built only a few years ago. It successfully bridges the gap between hotel and home and marries traditional Sri Lankan style with contemporary decor. Our huge room was a cool retreat after a day spent tramping through the ruins of local cultural sites and, in the evening, we dined with Kevin at a table on an upper verandah, with candles and the sounds of local wildlife in the distance. At the end of November, it was as far removed from chilly London as one could imagine. There is so much to praise here - so many enjoyable experiences: taking the farm's tuk tuk for a two minute ride up to the hillside villa to swim in the pool, which lies cool and clear against a backdrop of foliage, like one of the perfect aquamarines for which the island is renowned: excellent, traditional food, thoughtfully prepared by the local staff, who Kevin sends on cooking courses as well as highly attentive service. Ultimately, what made this such a special place was the warmth and hospitality of all the staff. It really was a team effort to make us feel special and we truly felt as if we were honoured guests. On a practical note, we arrived with our driver - and you'd need a driver to get here - but Kevin or Jesse and the team can arrange transport from the airport and would probably be able to organise local sightseeing excursions with a driver/guide.

The manager Jesse made our stay so amazing - a trip of a lifetime for us. I highly recommend that you stay here. You won't be disappointed in any way. Food, accommodation, location and staff are well worth the trip if you are going to Sri Lanka. We will be going back.

Room Tip: We stayed in room number 3 with interconnecting room 4 for the children.

We reserved 2 days but we stayed 6. Why? The hotel is a luxury farm nestled in the jungle between Dambulla and Kandy. Exactly at Pallepola. A little hard to find if you are not practical site. But just call the helpful manager Mr. Jesse. Spacious rooms. The triple room for families was huge. Shower in the open. Very suggestive. Kitchen yummi. Lobsters were incredible. Very excellent Italian coffe & cappuccino. Relaxing and rejuvenating or starting point for excursions to the archaeological sites of dambulla, Sigiriya, anhuradapura, polonnaruwa. Excursions can be arranged with their vehicle and driver / guide, very good & careful person. The staff is so friendly & helpful that we felt in family.

Room Tip: If available, ask for corner suite (i think n.5). It has a fantastic semi-private terrace from wich...

Staying at Jim's Farm villas is like staying as a guest at someone's private villa. The photos do not do justice to the place as it is even nicer than what you see online. The dinners are spectacular and the chef will happily adjust the menu according to a guest's preferences. We feasted on jumbo river prawns, crab, and fresh tuna. The breakfasts got a little boring and could use a little bit more rotation of foods. However, everything was super delicious and any eggs or produce came directly from the farm.

The staff at this hotel is enthusiastic, friendly, professional, and out to make sure every need that a guest may have is more than fulfilled. Nothing is too much trouble! Every member of the staff exemplifies the essence and genuineness of the real Sri Lankan. What a hard working, friendly, and committed staff! In fact, this hotel has one of the best staffs in all of Asia.

The rooms are in one of two villas. I stayed in both the hilltop villa high up at the top of the property which has four double rooms on the upper level. None of those rooms have tv, phone, or internet, but then you have an enormous main floor living room/dining room/kitchen area on the main floor of this villa along with quick access to the gorgeous swimming pool. Honestly, you feel as if you are up at the top of the world amidst palm trees and surrounding mountains and as if you are at a luxurious private villa; it is a great place to be to reconnect with your travel companion or just with the beautiful surroundings. Being at the hilltop villa was a wonderful way to get away from it all; yet within several minutes of walking down the path or taking the hotel's tuk tuk one minute down the road, one was back at the main villa. I also stayed in the main villa where all the meals are served. The four double (or larger) rooms on the first/top floor are much larger than those in the hilltop villa and the bathrooms are much bigger, too, with a great outdoor shower; there is also a tv in each room at the main villa. It is a hard call to decide which villa to stay in as each room as its own pluses. I could stay here forever in either villa! You cannot go wrong staying here!
